Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette

What's going on Monday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Alanis Morissette (Jagged Little Pill acoustic) @ Apollo Theater
Alanis Morissette’s ’90s alt-rock classic Jagged Little Pill is getting a Broadway adaptation that opens in a few days, but first, Alanis herself will do a one-night-only acoustic performance of the album at Harlem’s historic Apollo Theater tonight.

Bob Dylan @ Beacon Theatre
The great Bob Dylan continues his intimate ten-night run at Beacon Theatre with his band which, if previous nights’ setlists (which have been pretty much the same every night) are any indication, includes lots of favorites.

Jeff Rosenstock, Sheena Anika & Augusta @ Trans-Pecos
Jeff Rosenstock begins his residency at Trans-Pecos tonight, which continues every Monday through December 23. Each show has a different opener and benefits a different cause. This one benefits victim services nonprofit Safe Horizon, and it’ll be opened by the new super-trio of Sheena Ozzella (Lemuria), Anika Pyle (Chumped, Katie Ellen), and Augusta Koch (Cayetana, Gladie). You had to RSVP (which is now closed), but even with RSVP, admission is first come, first served. Arrive at the venue starting at 6 PM to make a suggested donation and receive a wristband for entry.

Gaby Moreno with LADAMA & Metropolis Ensemble @ Kaufman Center (Ecstatic Music)
Guatemalan-born singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno performs the music of her recent collaborative album with Van Dyke Parks, ¡Spangled!, and she’ll be joined by Latin Alternative quartet LADAMA (who also open the show) and chamber orchestra Metropolis Ensemble

Jeffrey Lewis, Jason Anderson, Jocelyn Mackenzie (Pearl and The Beard) @ Pete’s Candy Store
Pete’s Candy Store is celebrating its 20th anniversary with some cool shows this week. This one features anti-folk great Jeffrey Lewis, long-running indie rock singer/songwriter Jason Anderson, and Jocelyn Mackenzie of the now-defunct alt-pop group Pearl and the Beard. For Jason Anderson, this is one of two NYC show he plays this week (the other is a full band electric show at Pianos tomorrow).

Butterboy Comedy @ Littlefield
While Aparna is out of town, Jo Firestone and Maeve Higgins are here for this week’s Butterboy, with guests Joe Mande, Subhah Agarwal, Mike Drucker, Erica Rhodes, and Mike Lebovitz.

Sound of Ceres + Rain Phoenix, Humeysha (solo) @ Elsewhere Zone One
If you dig shoegazy electropop and creative use of lasers, Sound of Ceres put on a pretty amazing live show. Tonight’s show also includes Rain Phoenix (sister to Joaquin and River) whose EP from this year featured Michael Stipe.

Bridget Everett & The Tender Moments @ Joe’s Pub
Backed by her band The Tender Moments, Bridget Everett provides an extremely unexpurgated night of comedy and music that may not be for the easily embarrassed.

You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
