Mo Pop 2018 - Sunday
Jeff Rosenstock at Mo Pop 2018 (more by Christian Heinzel)

What's going on Monday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Jeff Rosenstock, Oceanator, Sanawon @ Trans-Pecos
Jeff Rosenstock continues his four-show residency at Trans-Pecos tonight, which happens every Monday through December 23. Each show has a different opener and benefits a different cause. Tonight benefits Brooklyn-based music education nonprofit Willie Mae Rock Camp, and it’ll be opened by Brooklyn indie rocker Oceanator and Chicago-based duo Sanawon. You had to RSVP (which is now closed), but even with RSVP, admission is first come, first served. Arrive at the venue starting at 6 PM to make a suggested donation and receive a wristband for entry.

Rainforest Fund Benefit Concert @ Beacon Theatre
It’s 30th annual benefit concert for Sting’s Rainforest Fund and as usual it’s a star-studded affair, featuring performances from Sting, with Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, John Mellencamp, Shaggy, a reunited Eurythmics, H.E.R., and many others, with Robert Downey Jr. serving as host. This year’s show is dubbed “We’ll Be Together,” named after Sting’s 1987 single, and “will feature songs and videos from the ’80s and ’90s.”

Pixies, Kristin Hersh @ Webster Hall
The reunited (and Kim Deal-less) Pixies first stopped in NYC on Saturday during an appearance on Live From Here with Chris Thile, and they’ll play a proper NYC show tonight behind this year’s Beneath The Eyrie. Kristin Hersh, who led fellow Boston band Throwing Muses (who, like Pixies, were on 4AD), opens.

Ben Folds, Eyal Vilner Big Band @ Guggenheim Museum
Ben Folds, with help from the Eyal Vilner Big Band, soundtrack this special event at the Guggenheim, where choreographer Caleb Teicher “will teach an introduction to swing dancing, followed by a party to put the moves in motion.”

The Spits, Brandy, Foster Care @ Saint Vitus
Cult-fave melodic punks The Spits are a band who must be seen live, and as these two sold-out Saint Vitus shows prove, their fanbase is as diehard as ever. This is night two.

Bass Drum of Death, Brion Starr @ The Broadway
Mississippi garage rock duo Bass Drum of Death, who released Just Business earlier this year, close out their 2019 with Brooklyn glam rocker Brion Starr.

Londynn B, Flipp Dinero, Lea Robinson @ S.O.B.’s
Londynn B was one of the standout stars of Netflix’s rap competition show Rhythm + Flow, and it’ll be no surprise if the show helps lead to a real career for her. She headlines SOB’s tonight, with support from local staple Flipp Dinero.

Butterboy Comedy @ Littlefield
Jo Firestone and Maeve Higgins are hosting tonight’s Butterboy Comedy show, with guests Meg Stalter (National Lampoon Radio Hour), Amy Miller (Comedy Central’s Up Next), Rachel Pegram (Comedy Central’s Up Next Variety), Drew Anderson (New York Comedy Festival), Norlex Belma (Carolines Comedy Breakout Artist), and Wendy Wroblewski (Tig Notaro’s Bentzen Ball).

Gary Gulman, Steven Castillo, Nikki Glaser, Dina Hashem @ Baby’s All Right
NYC comedian Gary Gulman, who you may have seen in his terrific and unusual HBO special The Great Depresh, hosts a night of comedy with friends Steven Castillo, Nikki Glaser, and Dina Hashem.

WNYC’s Ask Me Another: Dan Soder, Kal Penn, Ophira Eisenberg, Jonathan Coulton @ The Bell House
Dan Soder and Kal Penn are the guests tonight on Ophira Eisenberg’s popular humorous musical quiz show podcast.

You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
