What’s going on Monday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
Songhoy Blues, Olden Yolk @ Berlin
Malian band Songhoy Blues are a real joy to watch and, having just played The Apollo on Saturday, offer a very intimate chance to see them here. Opening is Olden Yolk, aka Quilt’s Shane Bulter.
CO/NTRY, Hnry Flwr @ Trans-Pecos
Fronted by artist, cult restauranteur and Montreal gadabout Beaver Shepard, duo CO/NRTY (pronounced “Country,” their original name) make what they used to call “sleaze-wave” — a melty version of pop that owes a little to early-’80s Cure.
Phil Lesh & the Terrapin Family Band @ Brooklyn Bowl
Last month, The Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh brought his West Coast band, the Terrapin Family Band, to NYC for two rare East Coast shows. This weekend, he does it again twice. This is the second.
Bodega Bamz, Remy Banks, A$hton Matthews, Bonnie B. @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
Fresh off releasing his politically-charged single “Can’t Ban the Tan,” New York rapper Bodega Bamz headlines a hometown show tonight.
Living Colour @ City Winery
While known for breaking down barriers with their soulful blend of hard rock, tonight they’ll be rocking the acoustic guitars.
Ben Lanz, Kid Millions (of Oneida), Ben Campbell, Aaron Arntz @ Threes Brewing
Kid Millions (Oneida, Man Forever) Ben Lanz (Beirut, The National, LNZNDRF) Aaron Arntz (Beirut, Grizzly Bear, LNZNDRF) and Ben Campbell (Big Data, Assembly) are this “genre-less space quartet.” Free, but $5 suggested donation.
Night Train w/ Wyatt Cenac @ Littlefield
This week Wyatt welcomes Alzo Slade, Molly Ruben Long, Chris Lamberth, Adrienne Iapalucci, Jourdain Fisher and more.
