What's going on Monday?

Bob Dylan

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Bob Dylan, Mavis Staples @ Beacon Theatre
Bob Dylan is on tour supporting his latest covers album and of course playing the classics too. Tonight he begins a FIVE night run at Beacon Theatre, a much more intimate venue than his most recent NYC-area show at Nassau Coliseum. Opening is Mavis Staples, whose powerful new album If All I Was Was Black came out on Friday.

H.E.R. @ Bowery Ballroom
H.E.R. gained some comparisons for The Weeknd, both for keeping her identity a secret at first and for her downtempo R&B sound. She’s rising very quickly, and plays sold-out shows at Bowery Ballroom tonight and Brooklyn Bowl in December.

6LACK, Sabrina Claudio, Sy Ari The Kid @ Brooklyn Steel
Speaking of fast-rising R&B, Atlanta singer 6LACK is bigger than ever too and plays his second NYC show of the week tonight.

Jhene Aiko, Willow Smith, St. Beauty, Kitty Cash @ Irving Plaza
One more R&B option tonight: Jhene Aiko, who just released her psychedelic new album Trip.

Jonathan Richman (w/ Tommy Larkins), Xylouris White @ The Kitchen
Part of The Kitchen’s fall season, JoJo will be playing five nights with longtime drummer/compatriot Tommy Larkins. Duo Xylouris White open all five and this is night 3.

Ed Askew Band, New Rose, Olden Yolk @ The Park Church Co-Op
Psych-folk legend Ed Askew released an album of new material last month, and last week he released an archival release, A Child in the Sun: Radio Sessions 1969–1970 (Drag City), which features songs from his classic 1968 album Ask the Unicorn and his “lost” 1970 album Little Eyes. This is the release show for A Child in the Sun.

Butterboy with Jo, Aparna and Maeve, plus guests Judah Friedlander, Shalewa Sharpe, Joe Zimmerman, Rebecca O’Neal, Khalid Rahmaan, + more @ Littlefield
Wyatt Cenac’s weekly comedy show, Night Train, is no more, and taking its place is Butterboy, which is hosted by Jo Firestone (The Tonight Show), Aparna Nancherla (Late Night with Seth Meyers, Master of None, Bojack Horseman), and Maeve Higgins (StarTalk).
