What's going on Monday?

Clan of Xymox

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Clan Of Xymox, Bootblacks @ Saint Vitus
One of the early bands on 4AD, Clan of Xymox’s dark synthpop sound helped shape what people consider “goth” today and they’ve a bunch of classics like “Muscoviet Mosquito,” “Louise,” “Obsession,” and more. This is their first U.S. tour in more than 20 years and second of two NYC shows.

MGMT, Matthew Dear @ Brooklyn Steel
MGMT recently released their great new album Little Dark Age, which is still rooted in the kind of ultra-weird psychedelia of the band’s last two albums, but they seem more focused on catchy pop on this one than they have been sine Oracular Spectacular. Tonight, they play their third of three Brooklyn shows.

Dead Meadow, Dallas Acid @ Rough Trade
Psych vets Dead Meadow turn 20 this year and they recently released their eighth album The Nothing They Need, which is more of the tripped-out, perma-stoned rock they do so well.

Billie Eilish, Reo Cragun @ Bowery Ballroom
Billie Eilish is a young, buzzy pop singer that has earned herself some Lorde comparisons. See what all the fuss is about for yourself, tonight.

The English Beat @ City Winery
Dave Wakeling is making a new English Beat album, titled Here We Go Love, which will apparently be out this summer. In the meantime he’s taking the current lineup of the band — he’s the only original member — on the road, playing all the classics (and maybe a General Public song or two as well).

k.d. lang @ Beacon Theater
k.d. lang has been celebrating the 25th anniversary of her Grammy-winning album Ingénue by playing it in full on tour. Following visits to Canada and Australia, its finally hitting NYC

Future Punx, Tough Age, Public Practice @ Berlin
This is a solid little show with Canada’s Tough Age, and the third show ever from Public Practice which is the new band from Samantha and Vince from Wall, along with Drew and Scott of Beverly. Headlining are Future Punks who do a nice update of Devo/Boingo type new wave.

Randy Newman @ Lincoln Center
While he might be known for his Pixar scores and novelty hits “Short People” and “I Love L.A,” Randy Newman also has a cult reputation thanks to string of brilliant ’70s albums like Sail Away and Good Old Boys. This show, part of the American Songbook series, should a real treat.

Blood Moon, Parrot Dream, Drawing Boards @ Elsewhere Zone One
Tonight’s the record release party for Blood Moon (aka Jesse Brickel of Chrome Sparks and Skylar Spence’s live band) and if you’re going, get there early to catch indie rock crew Drawing Boards which features former members of Dirty on Purpose, TEEN, and more.

Butterboy Comedy with Jo, Aparna and Maeve @ Littlefield
Tonight Butterboy welcomes Mehran Khaghani, Adira Amram and The Experience, Giulia Rozzi, Tyler Fischer, Lawrence DeLoach, and maybe some surprises.

Whiplash @ UCB Theater
After nearly a decade, tonight is the last ever Whiplash standup show at UCB. It’s free, and you never know who may show up. Whiplash moves to Union Hall in April.
