What's Going on Saturday?

Misfits

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Brooklyn Flea Record Fair @ East River State Park (Smorgasburg)
It’s the spring 2018 Brooklyn Flea Record Fair, with 50+ booths including independent record labels (Domino, Secretly Canadian, Awesome Tapes From Africa, Hospital Productions, Mute, Polyvinyl, Relapse, Sacred Bones, more), NYC record stores (Human Head, Limited to One, Halcyon, Rough Trade, Captured Tracks, more), as well as vintage vinyl sellers. It’s all under a tent, if you were wondering how they deal with rain. 11 AM – 6 PM.

The Original Misfits, Suicidal Tendencies, Murphy’s Law, Harley Flanagan @ Prudential Center
Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only and Doyle haven’t played together as the Misfits in their home state of NJ since 1983, but that changes tonight. Prudential Center is just a little bigger than the ideal place to see the Misfits, but at least they kept it real with the opening bands, who are all fellow punk/hardcore legends. Don’t forget: no cellphones allowed.

Cirque Saturdays w/ Nicki Minaj @ Highline Ballroom
Nicki Minaj has a new album called Queen coming this June, and she’s tonight’s musical guest on SNL. After SNL, she’ll headline to Highline Ballroom. It’s not exactly clear what she’ll be doing (hosting, performing, etc), but she’ll be there.

Festival of Disruption @ Brooklyn Steel
David Lynch brings his two-day art, film, and music festival to NYC and today’s sold-out lineup includes Kyle MacLachlan & Isabella Rossellini talking about Blue Velvet before a screening of the film, plus evening performances from Jon Hopkins and Animal Collective.

Black N’ Blue Bowl @ Brooklyn Bazaar
With Webster Hall undergoing renovations, annual NYC hardcore fest Black N’ Blue Bowl moves to Brooklyn Bazaar this year. This is day one of two, and there’s some great stuff on the lineup like Madball, Crown of Thornz, Slaine (with surprise guests), Japan’s Aggressive Dogs, rising band Jesus Piece, and more.

“Sounds of Spain” at Winter Garden at Brookfield Place
The New York Guitar Festival is presenting free performances of classical/flamenco guitar greats Adam del Monte with special guests Sonia Olla and Ismael Fernández at 12:30 PM and Sharon Isbin with Romero Lubambo at 7:30 PM.

Courtney Barnett, Palehound @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Courtney Barnett just released her new album Tell Me How You Really Feel yesterday, and it’s some of her best work yet. She celebrates with this sold-out show tonight, and she’ll be back in NYC for a larger show this summer at Prospect Park with Julien Baker and Vagabon.

Vulture Fest 2018 @ Milk Studios
Pop culture blog Vulture is back with its two day festival and among the options on Sunday include talks with the cast and creators of GLOW, Drag Race, and Younger, plus Crimetown Live, Tracy Morgan, Rachel Bloom & Adam Pally and more.

Lou Barlow @ Monty Hall
Perpetually lovelorn Dinosaur Jr bassist and Sebadoh frontman Lou Barlow plays solo tonight.

Soul Clap & Dance-Off, Kool Keith, ESCAPE-ISM, Edan @ Elsewhere
Jonathan Toubin’s monthly party takes over every inch of Elsewhere, with a pretty killer lineup of live performances (including Ian Svenonius’ ESCAPE-ISM), and the dance-off starting at midnight.

Joey Ramone Birthday Bash @ The Bowery Electric
For the past few years, the annual Joey Ramone Birthday Bash has been celebrating the 40th anniversary of a Ramones album, and this year it’s 1978’s Road To Ruin. The lineup includes former Ramones CJ and Richie, and more.

T-Pain, Cassie, Ludacris, Teyana Taylor @ Terminal 5
Auto-tuned singer turned real singer T-Pain headlines the 2018 edition of EXPG STUDIO’s annual “House of Exile” party, and the bill also includes underrated R&B singer Cassie, Southern rap staple Ludacris, and G.O.O.D. Music’s Teyana Taylor.

Kath Bloom, Erin Durant, J.R. Bohannon @ Wonders of Nature
Folk legend Kath Bloom remains active four decades into her career, having last released a new album in 2015. She still plays a good deal of shows too, and any chance to see her is worth taking. Openers tonight are well-matched.

Olden Yolk, Lionlimb, Jaye Bartell @ Mercury Lounge
Olden Yolk began as a solo project for Quilt’s Shane Butler but grew to include fellow multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Caity Shaffer, and is now a four-piece band. If you are familiar with Quilt, you’re not going to be surprised by what you hear on Olden Yolk’s debut album, but that’s totally ok. Shane’s style — melodic baroque psych folk, with strong krautrock tendencies — is in very fine form here.

Dead To Me, Elway, DFMK, Ramona @ The Kingsland
Cali punk staples Dead To Me are back in action with a new album on the way and two promising songs out now. Until then, they’re on tour with the likeminded Elway, hitting Brooklyn tonight.

Remember Sports, Fits, Friendship @ Baby’s All Right
Remember Sports used to just be called Sports and now they’ve got a new album out that’s more of their indie rock/pop punk crossover.

Springsteen on Broadway
The Boss continues his sold-out “Springsteen on Broadway” run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which has now been extended through December. At these shows, Bruce is giving fans shows “that are as personal and as intimate as possible.”

James Acaster @ Union Hall and Soho Playhouse
The very funny, quirky UK comedian makes his NYC live debut tonight, with an early show at Union Hall and a later show at Soho Playhouse.

Picture This! – Nore Davis, Kate Willett, Solomon Georgio, more @ Union Hall
Though this month’s edition of “It’s a Guy Thing” has sold out, Union Hall has yet more excellent stand up events this Saturday: Picture This! is a monthly showcase where animators and cartoonists draw comedians live as they perform, then present the portraits. Featuring Nore Davis (Inside Amy SchumerComedinas in Cars Getting Coffee), Kate Willett (Flophouse), Josh Gondelman (Last Week Tonight), Hari Kondabolu (The Problem With Apu, Netflix special), Molly Ruben-Long(Flophouse), and Nina Tarr (Viceland’s Party Legends).

Yanni 25 – Acropolis Anniversary Concert Tour @ Radio City Music Hall
The new age icon plays NYC tonight…or is it Laurel?
