Pitchfork Festival 2018 - Sunday
Japanese Breakfast @ Pitchfork 2018 (more by James Richards IV)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Panorama @ Randall’s Island
Friday ended up being canceled due to severe weather but today’s forecast looks better (though its gonna be muddy — don’t wear your new kicks.) Day 2 of Panorama festival features sets from Janet Jackson, SZA, St. Vincent, Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne, Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, and more.

Japanese Breakfast (DJ set), The Shacks (DJ set) @ DT*UT
After Japanese Breakfast’s anticipated live set at Panorama today, she’ll head to intimate Upper East Side cafe and bar DT*UT — which is walking distance from Randall’s Island — to DJ the FREE BrooklynVegan-presented afterparty. It starts at 10 PM and another of our favorite newer artists, The Shacks, will be DJing as well. Come hang!

Jay Som, Lo Moon @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Jay Som has an awesome sound that combines traditional indie rock, emo, sheogaze, dream pop, and more, and right now she’s in NYC to bring that sound to Panorama and to this Panorama afterparty with Lo Moon.

Just Blaze, Tony Humphries, SOB X RBE, JPEGMAFIA, Tomasa del Real, MNDSGN, Omar Apollo, Siobhan Bell @ MoMA PS1 (Warm Up)
The Warm Up dance parties in MoMA PS1’s courtyard continue today with a killer rap/electronic lineup, featuring iconic hip hop producer Just Blaze, NYC house vet Tony Humphries, rising hip hop acts like SOB x RBE and JPEGMAFIA, and even more worthy acts.

Punch Brothers, Madison Cunningham @ Beacon Theatre
The modern bluegrass quintet of mandolinist Chris Thile, guitarist Chris Eldridge, bassist Paul Kowert, banjoist Noam Pikelny and violinist Gabe Witcher just released their fifth album, All Ashore, and celebrate in style tonight.

One of the many Panorama aftershows, LA’s psycho-tropical soul group Chicano Batman is are joined by the very talented and equally trippy Brooklyn artist Helado Negro.

Boy George & Culture Club), B-52s, Tom Bailey of Thompson Twins @ Forest Hills Stadium
It’s a trifecta of ’80s new wave, bringing with them many favorites and probably a whole bunch of crazy outfits.

Frank Turner, Jesse Malin @ Rocks Off Concert Cruises
British folk punk Frank Turner has been on tour with his band all year supporting this year’s Be More Kind, but now he’s taking the time to do a few small acoustic solo shows, and it’s always great to see Frank in an intimate way like this too. First, he plays this matinee cruise with NYC punk veteran Jesse Malin opening, and then…

Frank Turner, Petal @ Saint Vitus
…he plays this night show with emo-ish indie rocker Petal, who released her own great album, Magic Gone, earlier this year (and recently co-headlined Bowery Ballroom with Camp Cope).

The Hold Steady @ Asbury Lanes
Having already played Jersey City and two Philly shows, The Hold Steady wrap up the Northeast portion of their “Constructive Summer” shows tonight. Every show so far has had an awesome opener, but it appears that tonight’s opener is still TBA. Any idea who it’ll be?

Pete Rock & the Soul Brothers, Hannah Williams & the Affirmations, Operator EMZ @ Central Park SummerStage
Hip hop as we know it wouldn’t sound the way it does without legendary producer Pete Rock, who helped define ’90s New York rap with his albums with CL Smooth, his contribution to Illmatic, and more. Tonight he performs a free Central Park show with jazz ensemble The Soul Brothers. Opening is Hannah Williams and the Affirmations (who were sampled on Jay-Z’s 4:44) and NYC hip hop DJ Operator EMZ.

Faramarz Aslani, Babak Amini, Habibi, Kiosk @ Lincoln Center/Damrosch Park Bandshell
The free Lincoln Center Out of Doors festival offers a lineup of Persian music, headlined by singer-songwriter and guitarist Faramarz Aslani. Brooklyn indie-pop group Habibi are also on the bill.

Jon Batiste, The Dap-Kings @ Pier 17
Here’s your first chance to check out South Street Seaport’s big, swanky new outdoor rooftop venue.

Remember 1994?

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (film screening), Kaki King @ Prospect Park Bandshell
BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! hosts this free screening of Miyazaki’s great 1984 adaptation of the manga classic. Before the film, Kaki King will play a set. Free.

Enjoy the sand, the surf, and some surf music — as well as snythpop and skroky new wave — and this free show out at Rockaway hotspot Rippers.

Shannon and the Clams @ Rough Trade
Shannon just released a great solo album, but here plays a Panorama after show with her also great band, The Clams.

Air Waves, Daniel Francis Doyle, The Natural (Kip from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart) @ Wonders of Nature
It’s like a Cake Shop/Bruar Falls reunion tonight at Wonders of Nature, highlighted by Kip from Pains’ new solo project, The Natural.

Mamadou Kelly, Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band @ Union Pool (Summer Thunder)
Malian blues artist Mamadou Kelly plays this week’s edition of Union Pool’s free Summer Thunder series, with the jammy Chris Forsyth & The Solar Motel Band as well. 2-6 PM.

Timeshares, Penske File, The Scandals, Ellen and The Degenerates @ Cobra Club
Tonight, Bushwick bar Cobra Club hosts a pretty solid punk bill, with Long Island’s twangy Timeshares, NJ’s heartlandy Scandals, and more.

The Killers @ The Stephen Talkhouse
Ahead of headlining Panorama in NYC on Sunday, The Killers are bringing their hits-filled show to the Hamptons tonight. The only way to get in was by winning tickets from SiriusXM, who will be airing the show live on Alt Nation channel 36 and through the SiriusXM app.

Springsteen on Broadwaye
The Boss continues his sold-out “Springsteen on Broadway” run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which has now been extended through December. At these shows, Bruce is giving fans shows “that are as personal and as intimate as possible.”
