What’s going on Saturday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
A Place to Bury Strangers, Mark Korven, The Apprehension Engine, SPELLING @ Brooklyn Bazaar
This is the afterparty to the Oddities Flea Market and is being put on by the folks at Atlas Obscura, who do the graveyard “In the Veil Shows.” In addition to the bands there is a “maze of atmospheric lounge rooms, unexpected performers, a spirit photography photo booth,” and more.
The Budos Band, Menahan Street Band, Holy Hive @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Horn-fueled instrumental psych-rockers Budos Band are releasing their new album V next week, but first they’re celebrating tonight with their second NYC show of the week. Menahan Street Band and Holy Hive make these shows a great lineup all around.
Lotus, Jaw Gems @ Brooklyn Bowl
Electronic jam band Lotus wrap up their three-night run at Brooklyn Bowl tonight.
Shilpa Ray, Little Hustle, Lulu Lewis @ Coney Island Baby
It’s a night of NYC artists at Coney Island Baby, with songwriter Shilpa Ray headlining this hometown date, along with hazy quartet Little Hustle and sonically-diverse group Lulu Lewis rounding out the bill.
Anamanaguchi (hardware DJ set), Nullsleep, Bit Shifter @ H0L0
Chiptune-influenced band Anamanaguchi headline this groovy night at H0L0 with an electronic DJ set.
Dessa, MONAKR @ (le) poisson rouge
When she’s not touring with Doomtree, rapper/singer Dessa creates her own solo material, her latest release being 2018’s Chime. You can expect to hear some tracks off that album at LPR tonight, along with recent single “Grade School Games.”
Hot Tuna (acoustic) @ Murmrr Theatre
Hot Tuna bassist Jack Casady celebrates his 75th birthday this week, and the band will commemorate the occasion with an acoustic show at Brooklyn’s Murmrr Theatre, which follows another birthday show in NJ last night.
Rivers of Nihil, Entheos, Conjurer, Wolf King @ Saint Vitus Bar
Pennsylvania tech-death crew Rivers of Nihil are doing a round of dates in support of 2018’s Where Owls Know My Name where they’re playing the album in its entirety. They’re hitting Saint Vitus tonight and tomorrow.
Ende Tymes @ Secret Project Robot
Ende Tymes, a three-day festival of noise and experimentation, continues tonight and includes sets from John Gross, The Haters, Form Hunter, and many others.
Brooklyn Folk Festival @ St. Ann & The Holy Trinity
The 2019 Brooklyn Folk Festival continues with a full day of music and activities and workshops.
The Loser’s Lounge: The Music of Queen @ Joe’s Pub
Joe McGinty and his ace band will pay tribute to Queen tonight with a whole host of guest singers. Two shows tonight and the late show is decidedly longer, which may be needed when a band has as many epics as Queen do.
Buster Poindexter @ Cafe Carlyle
David Johansen trades in his platforms for a smoking jacket and will keep things hot hot hot at fancy pants supper club Cafe Carlyle.
Plack Blague, Blu Anxxiety, Ces Cadavres @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Having just played a late-night Saint Vitus show last night, goth/industrial synth act Plack Blague hits Brooklyn Bazaar tonight.
Prateek Kuhad @ Rough Trade
Folky singer/songwriter Prateek Kuhad is currently in the US all the way from New Delhi, and he brings his super powerful pipes to NYC for three shows, beginning with this one (sold out).
Broncho, Lemongrab, The Muckers @ Elsewhere
Oklahoma’s super catchy indie pop rockers Broncho stop by Elsewhere tonight in support of recent LP Bad Behavior, which dropped last year.
