What's going on Saturday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Metronomy @ Rough Trade
Metronomy have jetted over from the UK just to play this special NYC release show for their great new album Metronomy Forever. They haven’t played anywhere this small here since 2008. Sold out, but there might be some tickets when doors open? This will be fun. No opener, Metronomy are on at 9 PM.

Massive Attack (DJ Set), Forest Swords, Anthony Naples, DJ Voices @ Webster Hall
After two night playing full-band shows at Radio City Music Hall, 3-D and the rest of Massive Attack head to Webster Hall for this late-night, all-night DJ party.

Woodsist Festival @ Arrowood Farm Brewery
Woodsist are throwing this upstate festival in Accord, NY featuring Woods, Real Estate, Whitney, Anna St. Louis and more. We’re hoping there might be an impromptu David Berman tribute…we shall see.

Stereolab, Olivia Neutron-John @ Brooklyn Steel
It’s been 11 years since Stereolab last played NYC and the group’s reunion tour pulls into Brooklyn Steel for two sold-out shows, this being the second.

Billy Bragg @ Bowery Ballroom
Billy Bragg wraps up his three-night One Step Forwards, Two Leaps Back run tonight by playing Workers Playtime, Don’t Try This at Home and William Bloke in full.

2019 Global Citizen Festival @ Central Park Great Lawn
The annual Global Citizen Festival returns to Central Park tonight, which aims to “bring together top artists, world leaders, and everyday activists to take action to end poverty.” Headliners Queen + Adam Lambert, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, and others will take the stage, with Deborra-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman sitting in the hosting chairs for the sixth-straight year.

Madonna @ BAM: Brooklyn Academy of Music
Madonna’s Madame X tour continues its 17-show run at BAM, which are some of the most intimate shows of her career. The show is heavy on her new album but it’s a rare chance to get up close and personal with Madge.

Korine, Wingtips, Dancing Plague, Panic Priest, 6th Circle, Viva Non, Child of Night, Bring Her, Vain Warr, Visceral Anatomy @ Brooklyn Bazaar
This mini-festival at Brooklyn Bazaar, dubbed “Jubilæum 2,” features a wide array of acts from across the East Coast, including Philly-based Korine, Chicago-based Wingtips, Portland act Dancing Plague, and lots more.

Antibalas @ Industry City
It’s the finale for the 2019 Industry City Summer series, with what should be a joyous night with Brooklyn afrobeat ensemble Antibalas.

Moor Mother, Jerusalem in my Heart @ Issue Project Room
Avant-garde musician/rapper/poet Moor Mother creates dark, mysterious rap akin to dälek or Death Grips, and she’ll head to Issue Project Room tonight ahead of her upcoming LP Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes, which is out later this year.

Bodega, Native Sun, Kahiem Rivera @ Market Hotel
NYC post-punks Bodega regularly play shows in their hometown, and tonight’s Market Hotel show celebrates the release of their latest EP Shiny New Model. They’ll have support two fellow NYC-based acts, Native Sun and Kahiem Rivera.

Mates of State, The Philistines Jr. @ Mercury Lounge
Mates of State haven’t released any new music in quite a while (the duo have since become new parents), but they’ll play this special one-off show tonight as part of Mercury Lounge’s 25th anniversary.

William Cashion (Future Islands) @ National Sawdust
Future Islands bassist/guitarist William Cashion heads to National Sawdust to perform what he calls “postcard music,” which is ambient music inspired by Brian Eno, Suzanne Ciani, and more. According to William, these songs are “music to listen to with your eyes closed.”

Samia, Active Bird Community, Daisy The Great, Nick Cianci, Pearla, Tarune, Blu DeTiger @ Our Wicked Lady
This Dr. Martens-sponsored event is headlined by Samia, who curated this all-night party, surrounding herself with some of her favorite musicians. The entire event is also free, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Madball, Wisdom In Chains, Hangman, Combust @ The Kingsland
NYHC vets Madball still put on shows that get totally nuts, and punk shows at The Kingsland are usually nuts in general, so their two-night stand there this week should be as killer as you’d hope. (This is night two.) Cro-Mags JM were supposed to open but had to cancel their tour dates, but there are other cool openers like Hangman who just released their very solid debut LP.

Arca @ The Shed
Musician, producer, artist and Bjork collaborator Arca presents this “new, four-part experimental performance cycle titled Mutant;Faith.” This is Part 4: “Boundary.”

Dave Harrington Group @ The Sultan Room
Musician and composer Dave Harrington is perhaps best known for his work with Darkside, but he’s regularly performing with his Dave Harrington Group these days. Tonight, he heads to recently-opened venue The Sultan Room, where he and the group will perform cuts off their LP Pure Imagination, No Country, released earlier this year.

Skitzopolis, The Carvels NYC, The Drew Stone Hit Squad, Love Pirates, Sewage, Sea Monster @ Tompkins Square Park
Underground NYC publication The Shadow is putting on this special, punk-centric event, “welcoming in the fall season in our beloved Tompkins Square Park.” 1-7 PM.

Live From Here with Chris Thile: Dawes, Jamila Woods, Tom Papa, John Cameron Mitchell, Ann Patchett @ Town Hall
Chris Thile hosts his regular live radio variety show Live From Here at Town Hall tonight, featuring folk rockers Dawes, singer/poet Jamila Woods, comedian Tom Papa, Hedwig and the Angry Inch writer John Cameron Mitchell, and author Ann Patchett.

Joseph, Deep Sea Diver @ Webster Hall
Alt-pop trio Joseph dropped their first album in three years Good Luck, Kid earlier this month, and they’ll head to Webster Hall tonight, with help from Jessica Dobson-led folk band Deep Sea Diver.

Pinegrove, Boyscott @ White Eagle Hall
Pinegrove recently signed to Rough Trade and put out a new single, and now they’re on tour and hitting the NYC-area for three shows this week. This one’s with dream pop-ish indie folkies Boyscott.

Lil Ugly Mane, Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, Dana Dentata, MIRSY @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Internet-friendly rapper Lil Ugly Mane has been playing more and more shows lately, and tonight he’s back in NYC with Wicca Phase, the emo-rap project of former Tigers Jaw co-frontman Adam McIlwee.

Arlo Guthrie @ Paramount Theatre
Legendary songwriter and activist Arlo Guthrie remains active after several decades, and he’ll bring some of his most legendary songs to Asbury Park, NJ tonight, as part of his ongoing “Back By Popular Demand” tour.

Bilal @ Iridium
You may know prolific R&B/soul artist Bilal for his collaborations with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, and lots more, but he’s also a worthy solo artist on his own. He’ll play jazz club Iridium tonight, accompanied by his lively backing band.

Strung Out, The Casualties, Bastard Clan @ (le) poisson rouge
Thrashy skate punk vets Strung Out recently released their new album Songs of Armor and Devotion, and tonight’s their first NYC show since its release.
