You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

M. Lamar, Charlie Looker, Mivos Quartet @ Merkin Concert Hall
It’s the final night of the 2016 Ecstatic Music Festival, featuring Extra Life and Zs founding member Charlie Looker and the Mivos Quartet joining composer/countertenor M. Lamar for the premiere of Lamar’s “Surveillance Punishment and the Black Psyche,” a song cycle with art direction by Sabin Calvert.

Matmos @ National Sawdust
Matmos’s new album, Ultimate Care II was made entirely from sounds from a washing machine. Whether that appliance will make an appearance at the show remains to be seen.

The Who @ Prudential Center
The Who had to cancel a good chunk of last year’s tour due to Roger Daltrey‘s meningitis, but they’re back and ready to rock tonight.

Profanatica, Pissgrave, Luminous Vault @ Saint Vitus
Headlining this show is local black metal crew Profanatica, who have been around since the ’90s, but this show is also exciting ’cause it’s a chance to catch Pissgrave. The absolutely terrifying-sounding Philly band released Suicide Euphoria last year to a lot of acclaim in certain heavy music circles.

Dr. Dog, Hop Along @ Terminal 5
Pennsylvania’s Dr. Dog just released The Psychedelic Swamp which was a revamped version of their unreleased debut LP. Their tour with The Districts is in NYC for two T5 shows (this is the second).

Chris Forsythe & the Solar Motel Band, 75 Dollar Bill @ Trans Pecos
“Cosmic Americana” and jammy instrumentalist Chris Forsythe and the Solar Motel headline this night that also feature autre guitar/sax duo 75 Dollar Bill.

Bill Frisell (guitar) Petra Haden (vocals) Eyvind Kang (viola) Thomas Morgan (bass) Rudy Royston (drums) @ Village Vanguard
Experimental guitarist Bill Frisell has played with John Zorn in the grindcore/jazz band Naked City, Lucinda Williams, Richard Hell, Arto Lindsay and more. This five-night run is with that dog.’s Petra Haden on vocals.

Noel Fielding @ Gramercy Theatre
British comedian and Mighty Boosh co-creator Noel Fielding continues his six-show run tonight.

House of Pain, Everlast @ Irving Plaza
St. Patrick’s Day was yesterday, but for those who haven’t stopped partying (which may include the headliners), the most famous Irish-oriented hip hop act will be dishing out shamrocks and shenanigans tonight.

Most of the BrooklynVegan staff are in Austin this week for SXSW. Follow their exploits on Twitter and Instagram. And if you’re in Austin, come out our final free day party which happen at Cheer Up Charlies.
