What's going on Saturday?

Cock Sparrer @ Warsaw, 2015 (more by Keith Marlowe)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Cock Sparrer, Street Dogs, Career Suicide @ Warsaw
UK punk legends Cock Sparrer’s influence can be heard all over a ton of today’s bands, and their classic material hasn’t lost a bit of its appeal. This is their second of two sold-out Warsaw shows this weekend, and this one has Boston staples Street Dogs (ex-Dropkick Murphys) and Toronto hardcore rippers Career Suicide (ft. Jonah Falco of Fucked Up), who are about to release their first album in ten years.

Chris Gethard @ Tribeca Performing Arts Center
Speaking of Career Suicide, that’s the name of Chris Gethard’s acclaimed one-man-show that is being taped tonight over two performances. If you didn’t get tickets, it’ll be on HBO later this year.

Lady Lamb, Henry Jamison @ Knitting Factory
In 2015, Lady Lamb (aka Aly Spaltro) released her biggest-sounding album yet, After. Late last year, she followed it with the Tender Warriors Club EP which brought her back to a more intimate sound. She’s on tour now in support of that EP, and this is her first of two Brooklyn shows.

Antarctigo Vespucci (Jeff Rosenstock & Chris Farren), Sammus, Worriers, Weird Skin @ Villain
In addition to leading great solo careers, Jeff Rosenstock and Chris Farren make some pretty fun collaborative music as Antarctigo Vespucci. If you’ve seen Jeff live with any of his bands, you know his shows are always a huge party.

Loren Connors, Isobel Sollenberger (of Bardo Pond), Steve Dalachinsky @ Issue Project Room
This show brings together “venerable improviser Loren Connors, vocalist and flutist Isobel Sollenberger and poet Steve Dalachinsky for a layered evening of guitar, flute and poetry.”

Suuns, Brian Case @ Saint Vitus Bar (2 shows)
Montreal’s Suus excell at sinister/sexy-sounding post-post and, on last year’s Hold Still, added electronics to the mix. Tonight’s two shows (early/late) are with Brian Case of their old tourmates Disappears, whose solo work is dark, instrumental soundscapes.

Greg Cartwright, Alana Amram, The Saylavees @ Union Pool
Greg Carwright is a Memphis garage-punk icon who you may know from such bands as The Compulsive Gamblers, The Oblivians and, these days, Reigning Sound. He’s got a soulful style that always sets him apart, in group or solo.

Drive-By Truckers, Kyle Craft @ Webster Hall
Long running countrified rockers Drive-By Truckers released American Band last year, a fiery polemic that tackles State of the Nation issues with gusto. Can’t imagine they’ve mellowed out since.
