Parquet Courts at Webster Hall

What's going on Saturday?

Parquet Courts at Webster Hall
Parquet Courts @ Webster Hall earlier this year (more by Amanda Hatfield)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Parquet Courts, Lee Ranaldo, Guerilla Toss, X_ _X, Vanity, Flasher, Joe Pera (host) @ Knockdown Center
Parquet Courts cap off 2016 with this big show at Queens’ cavernous Knockdown Center featuring two stages, art installations and a Dull Tools record shop. Set times are below.

Bon Iver, Gordi @ Hammerstein Ballroom
Bon Iver continue their 10-show NYC-area run in support of this year’s experimental, heavily electronic 22, A Million. This one’s at the big Hammerstein Ballroom.

Allison Crutchfield and the Fizz, Yohuna, Ian Sweet @ Baby’s All Right
Allison Crutchfield (Swearin’, PS Eliot, Waxahatchee, etc) recently signed to Merge as a solo artist and released a single that’s making her upcoming album seem pretty promising. Tonight she plays a Stereogum holiday show with two pretty solid openers.

Jesse Malin holiday show w/ Rolling Stones tribute (ft. Joan Jett, Tommy Stinson, Walter Schreifels, Tad Kubler, Joseph Arthur & more), Tommy Stinson’s Cowboys In The Campfire, Don DiLego and the Touristas, Richard Bacchus @ Bowery Ballroom
NYC punk staple Jesse Malin is doing his annual holiday show at Bowery Ballroom tonight, and most excitingly, it includes a star-studded tribute to The Rolling Stones’ Goats Head Soup. Unfortunately, Debbie Harry was supposed to be part of that tribute but had to drop off.

The Landlady Holiday Spectacular @ The Bell House
Landylady have been putting on a holiday show for charity for a few seasons now, and tonight’s looks pretty spectacular, with Chrome Sparks, Lady Lamb The Beekeeper, Pavo Pavo, Steve (of Delicate Steve), The Westerlies, Ex Reyes, Jeff Curtin & His Magic Theremin, Joanna Sternberg, and Uncivilized all playing, along with Landlady and something called “Crooklyn Rockers: A Very Natty Christmas.”

Enslaved @ Gramercy Theatre
Norwegian prog/black metal greats Enslaved are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a unique three-day stay in NYC called “New York By Norse.” Tonight includes a performance from Enslaved’s Ivar Bjornsen, performing as his dark ambient project BARDSPEC with accompaniment from Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia, Gorguts, Vaura, etc). It also includes a workshop from Wardruna‘s Einar Selvig, where he will talk about “Norwegian historical music, runes, Wardruna’s ongoing Runaljod trilogy,” and other stuff, as well as giving an acoustic performance.

Elvis Perkins, Spirit Family Reunion, Mega Bog, FRAME, TOCCA @ Le Poisson Rouge
This is “Stand Your Ground: NYC Benefit for Standing Rock” with a stellar group of performers, including headliner Elvis Perkins, and lots more.

Matt Pond PA, Moving Panoramas @ Knitting Factory
Matt Pond Pa recently released their new album Winter Lives, and they’ll celebrate it in Brooklyn tonight.

Powell, Silent Servant, Certain Creatures @ TBA Brooklyn
UK electroic artist Powell released the very good Sport on XL earlier this year, and tonight he plays a Brooklyn show with quality support from Silent Servant.

Sick of It All, Killing Time, Antidote @ The Bowery Electric
NYHC legends Sick Of It All are on night two of their triboro tour of intimate venues for their 30th anniversary. Tonight they take on Manhattan.

The Blind Shake @ Our Wicked Lady
Minneapolis dystopian bashers The Blind Shake released new album Celebrate Your Worth earlier this fall and has all the band’s signifiers: big, blunt riffs, animal beat drumming and sneering, shouty vocals. They’re terrific live.

The Mystery Lights, Roya, Warbly Jets @ Shea Stadium
New York’s best garage band, The Mystery Lights headline this show  but the undercard is excellent too: Roya (whose debut album will soon be out on Burger Records), and LA’s Warbly Jets.

Islands @ Webster Hall
Canadian band Islands are celebrating the 10th anniversary Return to the Sea by playing it in full tonight.

“A Prairie Home Companion” w/ Chris Thile, Steep Canyon Rangers, Aoife O’Donovan, Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer @ Town Hall
Chris Thile has really taken to his role as new host of NPR’s “A Prairie Home Companion” and this live taping features a disparate mix of guests tonight, from bluegrass to cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

Tonight’s Retox show has been postponed.
