Jimmy Eat World at Riot Fest 2016 - Friday
Jimmy Eat World at Riot Fest Chicago 2016 (more by James Richards IV)

What's going on Saturday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

The Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag, Up For Nothing @ Irving Plaza
It’s the final night of The Bouncing Souls’ BrooklynVegan-presented run at Irving Plaza. Each night has different openers, and this one’s got political pop punks Anti-Flag and Brooklyn locals Up For Nothing.

Jimmy Eat World, Prawn @ Webster Hall
Jimmy Eat World returned this year with Integrity Blues, their most consistently great album front-to-back since 2004’s Futures. They’re currently on tour with emo revivalists Prawn, who surely take some influence from Jimmy Eat World.

Taking Back Sunday, Acceptance, Gates @ Starland Ballroom
Taking Back Sunday made a turn towards heartland rock on this year’s Tidal Wave, but don’t worry, they still play the emo/pop punk favorites at their shows. This is day two of two of their annual holiday shows at Starland Ballroom, and they’ve got also got a pop-up shop/acoustic show in the afternoon.

Dead Heavens @ Union Pool
Post-hardcore legend Walter Schreifels has been active with at least five bands this year. Before the year ends, his new-ish psych/garage band Dead Heavens will grace their hometown of Brooklyn with one more show.

Acid Dad, GYMSHORTS, RIPS, Kyle Avallone @ Baby’s All Right
Psych act Acid Dad have garnered as rep as one of Brooklyn best new live acts and will be performing a lot of new songs tonight. Do check out RIPS (who make early-’80s nervy pop) if you’re going tonight.

Ronnie Stone and The Lonely Riders, Infinity Shred, Qhrist With A Q @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar
How serious you take Ronnie Stone & the Lonely Riders is up to you but his intentionally kitschy, ’80s-in-a-blender shtick (somewhere between Bruce Springsteen and Prefab Sprout) is not without craft, even if it is a joke. The Figgs @ Mercury Lounge

Kristin Hersh @ Rough Trade
Throwning Muses’ singer/guitarist Kristin Hersh released her new album/book, Wyatt at Coyote Palace,  earlier this year and plays the second-to-last date on her solo tour tonight.

Old Gray, Nine of Swords, Soul Glo, Closer @ Shea Stadium
While Cam Boucher is better known for fronting Sorority Noise, he also takes the mic with screamo band Old Gray, who are fresh off releasing their sophomore album Slow Burn.

Mikey Erg, Thin Lips, Spill, Nervous Dater @ Suburbia
This is the release show for Spill’s debut album Top Ten, which fans of fuzzy rock from Weezer to Japandroids should check out. The rest of the lineup is a little more on the raw pop punk side, headlined by Mikey Erg, one of the masters of that sort of thing.

Darlene Love @ BB King Blues Club
One of the main voices on the classic A Christmas Gift to You from Phil Spector album, Darlene Love is always a great holiday concert choice.

Los Lobos @ City Winery
Los Lobos begin their annual City Winery holiday residency tonight.

The Slackers, The Frightnrs, Full Watts, DJ John Glenn Soundsystem @ The Bell House
NYC ska vets The Slackers are celebrating the holidays with their annual hometown holiday show tonight.
