What's going on Saturday?

Nick Lowe @ Kings Theatre 2015 (more by PSquared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Nick Lowe’s Quality Rock ‘n’ Roll Revue, Los Straitjackets, Cut Worms @ Damrosch Park
The great Nick Lowe teams once again with collaborators Los Straightjackets for this free show at part of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival. Making for a nice pairing is Cut Worms’ Everly Brothers-style pop (which will be augmented by a few members of Woods tonight). 7:30 PM.

Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Jeff Ross @ Radio City
Dave Chappelle’s 16-show Radio City run has had amazing guests each night, both announced ones and surprise ones. This is the first of two nights with Chris Rock, and Jeff Ross is billed too.

Phish @ MSG
This is the second to last night in Phish’s “Baker’s Dozen” run at MSG, which matches a donut flavor to themed songs (including some very cool covers).

Neurosis, Converge, Amenra @ Warsaw
Old pals Neurosis and Converge are on tour together right now and this pairing is not to miss. Both bands make aggressive music that blurs the lines between punk and metal, and both are legends in their own right (they’ve also collaborated before). Opening is Belgian post-metal greats Amenra, making this show even more desirable. This is night two of two at Warsaw.

Skrillex, Ekali, Deux Twins, special guests @ Webster Hall
This is the last club night at Webster Hall before the venue switches ownership and undergoes renovations (and may not continue having club nights). They’re going out with a bang with Skrillex, who normally plays much more massive places than this.

Poptone, POW! @ Irving Plaza
Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins have been members of Bauhaus, Love and Rockets and Tones on Tail, and made some of the most distinctive post-punk/alt-rock of the ’80s and ’90s. With Haskin’s daughter Diva Dompe on bass, they’ll be pulling from their deep catalog tonight (though probably not so much songs that were sung by Peter Murphy or David J). Opening are California synth-punks POW! who just released their third album for Castle Face.

Melvins, Spotlights @ Stone Pony
Melvins returned this year with a new double album — their first with Redd Kross’ Steve McDonald as a full-time member — and they’re on the road with their Ipecac labelmates Spotlights, who are worth showing up early for.

Venus X, Denzel Curry, Southside, Nef The Pharaoh, Dave, DJ Diamond Kuts @ MoMA PS1 (Warm Up)
The lineup for this edition of Warm Up changed a lot (A$AP Ferg was supposed to play but now plays next week instead), but it ended up being pretty awesome. Denzel Curry especially makes this one a must-see.

Elza Soares, Liniker E Os Caramelows, Teleseen @ Central Park SummerStage
79-year-old Samba icon Elza Soares has over 50 albums, including last year’s A Mulher do Fim do Mundo (The Woman at the End of the World) which got a good amount of hype in America (including Pitchfork giving it Best New Music and putting it on their year-end list). Catch her for free in NYC tonight.

Nels Cline, Sam Amidon @ Prospect Park
On his latest album, Lovers, Wilco Guitarist Nels Cline performs both origninals and standards with a big band treatment. That’s what he’ll be doing tonight at this free Celebrate Brooklyn! show.

Julie Byrne, Innov Gnawa @ Union Pool (Summer Thunder)
Julie Byrne’s Not Even Happiness is one of the year’s best folk albums so far. Catch her for free at 2 PM today as part of Union Pool’s Summer Thunder series.

J. Cole, Anderson .Paak, Bas, J.I.D, Ari Lennox @ Nassau Coliseum
The ever popular J Cole is on the road supporting his late-2016 LP 4 Your Eyez Only, and he has killer direct support from neo-soul singer/drummer Anderson Paak. The tour also has Bas, J.I.D, and Ari Lennox, who are all on Cole’s Dreamville label.

Slaughter Beach Dog, Shannen Moser, Spiritweed @ Baby’s All Right
While Modern Baseball remain on hiatus, co-frontman Jake Ewald is focusing on his likeminded Slaughter Beach, Dog project, which scratches a similar itch. His live band tonight includes his MoBo bandmate Ian Farmer on bass.

World/Inferno Friendship Society, Vic Ruggerio, Teenage Halloween @ Brooklyn Bazaar
World/Inferno Friendship Society, bring their punk/soul/klezmer/jazz party to Brooklyn Bazaar tonight with Vicc Ruggiero of The Slackers and Teenage Halloween.

PnB Rock @ 16 W 36th St
PnB Rock can sing one hell of a hook (like, for example, on Kodak Black’s “Too Many Years”). Tonight you can catch his crooning voice in person.

Alphavile @ United Palace Theatre
We are not forever young, but ’80s German synthpop vets might make you feel like you are tonight.

Social Distortion, Jade Jackson @ The Paramount
Twangy punk vets Social Distortion are back out on the road with ANTI-signed country singer Jade Jackson. Tonight they play Long Island and next week they play NJ.
