Dave Chappelle’s star-studded 16-show Radio City residency continues tonight. This time he’s got three current SNL cast members (including ‘Weekend Update’ hosts Michael Che & Colin Jost), and surprise guests are sure to show up as well.
Total Freedom (with Ryan Trecartin), Cardi B, A$AP Ferg, Lotic, inc. no world + Ian Isiah, Yatta @ MoMA PS1
Today’s Warm Up lineup is crazy, with Harlem rapper A$AP Ferg, whose new Still Striving project drops next week and who’s more popular than ever, and Cardi B, whose “Bodak Yellow” has serious Song of the Summer potential. On top of that, there’s also inc. no world & Ian Isiah performing a set of gospel standards, the boundary-pushing electronic musician Lotic, and still more.
Social Distortion, Jade Jackson @ Starland Ballroom
Social Distortion have been making twangy punk for about 35 years now, and even if their album output is less prolific than it once was, their live show is still worth it. Opening tonight is country singer Jade Jackson, who recently released an album on ANTI-.
Yes, Todd Rundgren, Carl Palmer’s Elp Legacy @ PNC Bank Arts Center
Prog greats Yes have been at it forever, and their current tour is a reminder of just how rich their discography is. For these shows, they “will play one track live, from each studio album from YES (1969) to DRAMA (1980), chronologically, with a few surprises thrown in.” It’s a good lineup all around with Todd Rundgren, and Carl Palmer, the only surviving member of ELP.
They Might Be Giants, Bill Childs @ Central Park SummerStage
It’s Family Day at SummerStage, and They Might Be Giants are certainly a band enjoyed by parents and kids. 2 PM start.
Pill Running, Gold Dime @ Union Pool (Summer Thunder)
A reliable good, free time in the warm months is Union Pool’s Summer Thunder series, bringing free afternoons shows every Saturday. Today gets skronky with the sax-fueled post-punk of Pill.
Michelle Wolf @ NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts
You may know comedian Michelle Wolf from her time on Late Night with Seth Meyers or from her current gig as a writer/correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Folks in NYC may also know her from regular standup appearances everywhere, from Seth Herzog’s SWEET to Wyatt Cenac’s Night Train. She tapes her first HBO special tonight at two shows.
Youssou N’Dour, Yacouba Sissoko @ Prospect Park Bandshell
The 2017 season of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn comes to a close tonight with Senegalese singer and world music star Youssou N’Dour performs. Free.
Frankie Rose, Tempers, War Bubble @ Baby’s All Right
Frankie Rose takes a new approach on her just-released Cage Tropical, going in more electronic, ethereal direction. Tonight’s the record release party.
The Jayhawks, Vernon Reid, Low Cut Connie @ Lincoln Center/Damrosch Park Bandshell
The 2017 Lincoln Center Out of Doors Fest comes to a close this weekend with Americana Fest NYC, headlined tonight by Midwest greats The Jayhawks. Free.
Maria Usbeck, Easy Lover, DJ MOJO @ The Met Breuer
Part of the Met Breuer’s “Theatre of the Resist” series, tonight offers up the charming, tropical sounds of former Selebrities singer Maria Usbeck.

You don’t normally associate Rockwood Music Hall with comedy but this series is trying to change that, and tonight is a pretty great lineup of talent, including Aparna Nancherla and Jo Firestone.
Pharoahe Monch, Mickey Factz, I Am Many @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
Queens rapper Pharoahe Monch has been at it since the late ’80s and he still remains great today, both live and in studio. His latest album ins 2014’s PTSD.
Lotic, Hitmakerchinx, Scraaatch, Kilbourne @ Secret Project Robot
After Warm Up, Lotic keeps the party going at Secret Project Robot.
Uniform, Running, Sediment Club, Conduit @ The Glove
Uniform’s latest LP is a mix of hardcore, noise, thrash, and more, and their live shows are even more brutal than the records.
Lo Tom (members of Pedro the Lion & more), TW Walsh @ Rough Trade
After already releasing a solo album this year, the prolific David Bazan released the debut album with his new band Lo Tom. Lo Tom has a very impressive indie rock pedigree, with Bazan’s Pedro the Lion bandmate TW Walsh and Starflyer 59 members Jason Martin and Trey Many (the latter of whom also played in His Name Is Alive and has drummed for Pedro the Lion). TW Walsh also opens this show as a solo artist.
