Code Orange

What's going on Saturday? (cancellations, venue closures, livestreams, more)

Due to coronavirus fears, most of tonight’s shows are cancelled (and even for the few that are still happening, we don’t necessarily recommend attending one). You can stay up to date on what’s happening and not happening by checking our NYC show calendar and our roundup of cancellations, which we’re constantly updating.

Some of tonight’s cancelled NYC-area shows include Fennesz at Bushwick United Methodist Church, the Planned Parenthood benefit with the partial Hole reunion at Town Hall, Carissa’s Wierd at Rockwood Music Hall, Kevin Devine at Rough Trade, Anti-Flag at Gramercy Theatre, Downtown Boys at Market Hotel, The Soul Rebels at Brooklyn Bowl, SOB x RBE at Baby’s All Right, Phil Lesh at the Capitol Theatre, Jerry Seinfeld at Beacon Theater

As of yesterday, New York State governor Andrew Cuomo enacted a ban on gatherings of 500 or more people in the state, and the capacity of smaller bars and venues is being cut in half.

Several NYC venues are closed temporarily. MSG and Barclays Center are expected to be closed for “a number of months.” Terminal 5, Brooklyn Steel, Music Hall of Williamsburg, Rough Trade NYC, Brooklyn Bowl, Town Hall, Knockdown Center (and its techno club Basement), UCB Theater, and House of Yes are closed until further notice. Le Poisson Rouge, Market Hotel, Public Records, Trans-Pecos, and Union Pool are closed through this weekend. Elsewhere is closed through at least March 19. Bowery Ballroom, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Shed, Avant Gardner, Mercury Lounge, TV Eye, and Baby’s All Right have closed for the rest of March.

All Live Nation arena tours are on pause until further notice, which doesn’t make a difference at the moment in NYC because there are now no arenas to play in anyway.

Saint Vitus is still open, so as of now, the Human Impact (mem Unsane, Swans, Cop Shoot Cop) album release show is still on. If you choose to stay home, you can stream it (and all Saint Vitus shows) live at Big Room.

The 2020 New Colossus Festival in the East Village and Lower East side is still putting on some shows with the bands who were already here. Check their Facebook.

The Code Orange album release show in Pittsburgh (which is being played in an empty venue) is also streaming live tonight at 9 PM at twitch.tv/codeorangeofficial.

If you’re looking for more musical entertainment from the comfort of your own home, we picked 8 amazing live videos to watch while you’re home and every show is cancelled. Also, check out this week’s new albums in Notable Releases and Bill’s Indie Basement.
