The Who Tommy

What's going on Sunday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Roger Daltrey (performing “Tommy”) @ Forest Hills Stadium
Last year, Pete Townshend played The Who’s Quadrophenia on tour with an orchestra, and now Roger Daltrey is doing the same for the band’s other classic rock opera, Tommy. For Roger, tonight’s show is a return to Forest Hills Stadium where The Who played in 1971 (and 2015).

The Posies, Terra Lightfoot, Valley Lodge @ Bowery Ballroom
Taking influence from The Beatles, Big Star and Beach Boys, the Posies have been making great guitar pop for 30 years. They’re celebrating three decades together on this current tour that regroups the Frosting on the Beater lineup of the band.

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Amyl and The Sniffers @ Brooklyn Steel
Having released a whopping five album in 2017, Australian microtonal garage-psych psychos King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard bring the manic energy live show to NYC for three nights at Brooklyn Steel.

Parquet Courts – “Total Football” closing party @ Canal Street Market
Today’s the last day of Parquet Courts’ World Cup themed “Total Football” popup. In addition to exclusive merch (including soccer scarves) you can watch the day’s matches (Germany v Mexico at 11 AM; Brazil v Switzerland at 2 PM) and then there’s a closing party from 4-7 PM with free beer and you can challenge the band to games of foosball and FIFA. Free but you need to RSVP for the party.

Marc Ribot’s Los Cubanos Postizos @ Le Poisson Rouge
Marc Ribot’s latin jazz combo, Los Cubanos Postizos (aka “The Prosthetic Cubans”), have been going for 20 years and play tonight as part of Le Poisson Rouge’s LPR X 10th Anniversary celebration

UK singer-songwriter, who just launched her own label, plays her first of two National Sawdust shows tonight.

Washed Out, The Shacks @ Warsaw
The chillwave era is over but Washed Out has survived, and last year he released the soulful Mister Mellow on Stones Throw. Dream pop up and comers The Shacks open this show.

Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly @ Stone Pony
Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly is one hell of a double bill of celtic punk, and for this tour they’re celebrating “over 20 years of mayhem.” They play Asbury Park tonight and Forest Hills on Friday.
