What’s going on Sunday?

Shaky Knees Festival Day 1
Brian Fallon at Shaky Knees 2016 (more)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Eric Clapton w/ special guests Gary Clark Jr & Jimmie Vaughan @ Madison Square Garden
It’s your last chance to see Slowhand in the U.S. this year. He plays MSG tonight (second of two shows), and then takes a few months off before playing some shows overseas in 2019. These are all part of his “final” tour, so there may not be many chances left to see him in general.

Brian Fallon, Craig Finn @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
While The Gaslight Anthem and The Hold Steady have both been busy this year, both bands frontmen are now teaming for a solo tour together. They play MHOW tonight and tomorrow.

Lupe Fiasco, Uni G, Mickey Factz, Billy Blue, Nikki Jean @ Sony Hall
After making a bit of a comeback with 2017’s very solid Drogas Light, Lupe Fiasco followed that album with this year’s Drogas Wave which is he says is the second album in a planned trilogy. Tonight’s his first NYC show since its release.

Sidney Gish, gobbinjr, Daisy The Great @ Rough Trade
Boston indie rocker Sidney Gish has been on the rising since releasing her buzzed-about sophomore album No Dogs Allowed. Having recently opened for Mitski and Camp Cope/Petal, she returns to NYC tonight for a headlining show.

Weston, Digger, Latex Generation, Doc Hopper, The Ramoms @ Saint Vitus
While James Alex is now very busy as the frontman of Beach Slang, he takes time every once in a blue moon to get his old band Weston back together. They last played NYC in 2015 and now they’re doing it again, once again with their old pals Digger. Reunited Long Island punks Latex Generation, ’90s era NJ punks Doc Hopper, and all-female Ramones tribute band The Ramoms round out the bill.

Nnamdi Ogbonnaya, Options, Groupie @ Baby’s All Right
Nnamdi Ogbonnaya’s music is part hip hop, part experimental lo-fi pop, and more, and it really can’t be pigeonholed. See him bring his unique sounds to life tonight.

Charalambides, Loren Connors @ Artists Space
Tom and Christina Carter have been at the heart of Charalambides since the early ’90s, releasing spectral psych-folk on such labels as Siltbreeze, Kranky & Wholly Other.

Gong Gong Gong, Eaters, The Wants @ ALPHAVILLE
Beijing duo Gong Gong Gong make stripped down dirty blues rock, whose mantra is “Phantom Rhythm.” They’ll be on tour with Parquet Courts and Flasher soon, here’s a chance to see them with Brooklyn duo Eaters.

Frankie Cosmos, Lomelda, Stef Chura @ Bowery Ballroom
Frankie Cosmos wraps up her North American tour with this hometown show.

Kaiju Big Battel @ The Bell House
Somewhere between professional wrestling and Japanese monster movies lies the costumed awesomeness of Kaiju Big Battel.

Wyatt Cenac, Seaton Smith @ Union Hall
Wyatt Cenac is performing every Sunday in October at Union Hall for a series he calls “It’s Maybe Something With Wyatt Cenac.”

Dis Bish w/ Michelle Buteau @ Union Hall
“Dis Bish” is a stand up show with “very funny bishes featuring Michelle Buteau & Friends.”

Adam Schatz presents Transmissions From Landladyland LIVE, Josh Kantor, Nels Cline @ Littlefield
According to Landlady main man Adam Schatz, “Transmissions from Landladyland LIVE” is “a unique new residency from the well-tempered mind of Landlady’s own Adam Schatz. Each week Adam & special guests will have conversations, play their own songs, make other sounds together, and who knows what else.

New Kids On The Block @ Apollo Theater
They’re not so new anymore but these boy band survivors are celebrating their 30th anniversary. Did you ever notice Jordan Knight wears a Bauhaus t-shirt in the “Right Stuff” video?
