What's going on Sunday?

Alejandro Escovedo & The Minus 5 at YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts
Alejandro Escovedo (more by Greg Cristman)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Alejandro Escovedo @ City Winery
The great Alejandro Escovedo wraps up his annual winter City Winery residency tonight.

Horse Meat Disco, Justin Strauss, Michael Magnan, Josh Steers @ Elsewhere
This London-based four-man DJ collective are known for finding pearls in bins of forgotten disco 12″, having released a series of acclaimed compilations. Their real expertise comes into play at their DJ gigs, though. Just trust their taste…and the beat.

APB @ Mercury Lounge
Formed in 1979, NYC post-punk legends APB paved the way for Radio 4, Liars, LCD Soundsystem, etc.

Grails, Helen Money, Upper Wilds @ Saint Vitus Bar
Psychedelic post-rock greats Grails defy easy categorization and add Helen Money (aka cello-wielding, LA-based heavy artist Alison Chesley) to the bill and you’ve got a great show.

Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven @ Sony Hall
David Lowery brings his two main bands — ’80s college radio faves Camper Van Beethoven and ’90s-era alt-rock hitmakers Cracker — to NYC.

75 Dollar Bill, The Scene Is Now @ Union Pool
75 Dollar Bill, the improvisational guitar/percussion duo of Rick Brown and Che Chen, play tonight with long-running NYC jug band The Scene is Now.

Gabby’s World, Yowler, Franz Charcoal @ Rough Trade
Gabby’s World (fka Eskimeaux) and Yowler both released bedroom pop-ish albums last year — Beast on Beast and Black Dog In My Path, respectively — and tonight they team for this double bill.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead @ The Capitol Theatre
Joe Russo’s Almost Dead are one of the most beloved Grateful Dead tributes going (and they’ve jammed with actual Dead members). Tonight they wrap up a sold-out run at the Capitol Theatre

Brian Chase, Sannety, Dylan A. Marcheschi @ Muchmore’s
When he’s not busy behind the kit with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Brian Chase makes experimental music, jazz, and more on his own, and he’s always worth catching.
