2015 Pride March (more by Sachyn Mital)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

NYC Pride March
While 2015 was arguably the most celebratory Pride March ever, this year’s, just weeks after the Orlando tragedy, may be the most serious, but maybe the biggest. The Dance on the Pier follows after with headliner Fergie.

Bill Callahan, Sunwatchers @ Baby’s All Right (two shows)
Indie/lo-fi/slowcore vet Bill Callahan (aka Smog) has been at it since the early ’90s, and most recently released the Dream River in 2013 (and then a “dub” version of it a year later called Have Fun with God). This is his first and second of six Baby’s All Right shows (two each night).

Dead & Company @ Citi Field
One of the current Grateful Dead-related groups, Dead & Company has surviving members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart joined by John Mayer and more. They’ve been loading their sets with favorites, and mixing it up really well from night to night. This is the second of two shows.

Rainer Maria, Aye Nako @ Union Pool
Polyvinyl/emo vets Rainer Maria reunited about a year and a half ago and they’re still going strong. Tonight they wrap up a June residency at Union Pool with quality support from Aye Nako.

Quasi, Saqqara Mastaba WFMU @ Monty Hall
Now that Sleater-Kinney aren’t having quite as busy of a year, Janet Weiss has a little more time for Quasi, her band with Sam Coomes. The duo’s albums for UP, including 1997 R&B Transmogrification, 1998’s Featuring “Birds” and 1999’s Field Studies were just reissued by Sub Pop and they’re on a short tour in support.

dvsn @ The Bowery Ballroom
dvsn first caught ears as a mysterious R&B group that was affiliated with Drake, and now they’ve got an excellent debut album out and they’re on their first-ever tour. We have no idea what the live show will be like, but we’re excited to find out.

Kool Keith, Thirstin Howl III, B.A.R.S. Murre, Sav Killz, Frank Knight @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
Underground rap as we know it wouldn’t exist without Kool Keith, who has been at it since the ’80s and still puts out quality material today.

Dolly Parton @ PNC Bank Arts Center
A legend of pop-country and maker of several classic hits (“Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You,” “Love Is Like A Butterfly,” “Touch Your Woman,” etc), Dolly Parton plays NJ tonight.

Turbonegro, DJ Sid “Da’ Kid” @ Gramercy Theatre
Over-the-top Norwegian punks Turbonegro are a hell of a good time, and they’ll bring that good time to NYC tonight.

Robert Glasper w/ Special Guests Taylor McFerrin & more @ Blue Note Jazz Club
The Blue Note Jazz Festival continues with a residency from the great jazz/hip hop pianist Robert Glasper.

Lock, Warfare, Response, Liberty, Claim, Lion’s Cage @ The Acheron
Lock include current and former members of Fury, Blazing Eye, Merchandise, Power Trip, and they lead this sure-to-be-fun hardcore bill.

Ginuwine, Mack Wilds, Kid ‘n Play, DJ Camilo @ Flushing Meadows-Corona Park
The free SummerStage shows continue tonight with ’90s/’00s R&B hitmaker Ginuwine.

Dead Kennedys, Urban Waste, The Welch Boys, Yo!Scunt @ Webster Hall Marlin Room
While the band who currently tours as Dead Kennedys does not include Jello Biafra, they do have original members East Bay Ray and Klaus Flouride, and longtime drummer D.H. Peligro.

PRIDE AT LITTLEFIELD, Hosted by John Early, Cole Escola, Isaac Oliver and Hamm Samwichwith special guests Ilana Glazer, Jean Grae and Justin Vivian Bond @ Littlefield
If Dance on the Pier is not your idea of a Pride March afterparty, this event might be more up your alley…it’s sold out though. There might be tickets at doors.

Trevor Noah @ Central Park SummerStage
Most SummerStage shows are music, but this is comedy: The Daily Show Standup in the Park with host Trevor Noah. It’s been an extremely eventful 2015, so there will be plenty of subject to tackle at this free show. And if you’ve never seen Noah’s standup, he’s great.

Mayer Hawthorne @ The Surf Lodge
Today’s free show has been canceled.

The Macaulay Culkin* Show w/ Kate Berlant, Myq Kaplan, Dan Licata, Dylan Marron, Madonna Refugia, Matt Schimkowitz, Shalewa Shar @ Shea Stadium
You never know what to expect at The Macaulay Culkin Show, hosted by Brett Davis. They’ve bought dinner for the crowd from Boston Market, had a real live wedding and other fun stuff. It’s a great roster of guests tonight too.
