This week’s edition of Union Pool’s free afternoon series features psych-pop artist Sam Evian and country-folk singer Hannah Cohen. BrooklyVegan’s own Bill Pearis is your DJ for the afternoon. 2-6 PM.

Tyvek, Honey Radar, Brandy, P.E. @ Unit J
Detroit’s DIY punk cult heroes Tyvek just released a new EP and are celebrating with two Brooklyn shows this weekend. Tonight’s bill is all-around great, with openers P.E. being a new collaborations from members of Pill and Eaters.

Soul Scream w/ Max Pain and The Groovies, Smock, Jonathan Toubin @ Our Wicked Lady
Jonathan Toubin’s weekly Sunday night Soul Scream party tonight welcomes bands Max Pain & The Groovies and Smock to Our Wicked Lady’s Rooftop. Bands at 8PM and it turns into a free party with DJs at 10 PM.

Sidney Gish, Lunar Vacation, Skylar Pocket @ Asbury Park Brewery
Boston indie rocker and inventive guitarist Sidney Gish is touring in continued support of her breakthrough album No Dogs Allowed, hitting Asbury Park tonight and Brooklyn on Monday and Tuesday.

Warwound, Porvenir Oscuro, Headsplitters @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Pittsburgh’s Skull Fest is bringing a lot of cool veteran punk bands to the Northeast for rare appearances, including UK D-beaters Warwound who are in Brooklyn tonight.

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band @ Pier 17
Ringo Starr is one of two surviving Beatles, and he plays plenty of that band’s classics — plus many others — with a little help from his friends.

Joanna Sternberg, Miwi La Lupa, Utsav Lal, Allegra Krieger @ Alphaville
Joanna Sternberg recently released their new album Then I Try Some More on Conor Oberst’s Team Love Records and also toured opening for Conor, and now that that tour is a wrap, Joanna plays a hometown NYC show tonight.

The Acacia Strain, Kublai Khan, Judiciary, Chamber @ Saint Vitus
Saint Vitus hosts a night of metalcore with headliners The Acacia Strain, who tapped some promising new bands like Judiciary and Chamber for this tour.

Adrian Belew @ Iridium
Adrian Belew sang on a handful of classic King Crimson albums, from Discipline to Thrak and beyond, and he has also lent his guitar skills to David Bowie, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa, Nine Inch Nails, and plenty of others. He plays the Iridium tonight through Wednesday.

5.6.7.8’s, Metalleg @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Japanese garage rock band 5.6.7.8.’s are best know for having a cameo in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, but have a large catalog of fun rock n’ roll.

Kali Uchis, Cuco, Helado Negro, IV Jay, Ambar Lucid, Jasper Bones, Principe Q @ Central Park SummerStage
Benefit event series Solidarity for Sanctuary and NYC’s City Parks Foundation present this free show in honor of the late “Queen of Tejano music” Selena, and featuring an array of Latinx artists, including Kali Uchis, Cuco, Helado Negro, IV Jay, Ambar Lucid, Jasper Bones, Selena’s nephew Principe Q, and The Santuario House Band with music direction by Adrian Quesada.

The Macaulay Culkin Show w/ Macaulay Culkin, Jon Glaser, Chris Gethard, Brett Davis, and lots more! @ The Bell House
Brett Davis and Sally Burtnick have been doing a monthly comedy showcase called The Macaulay Culkin Show for nearly a decade, a show which has nothing to do with the actor. That changes tonight with The 6th Annual Macaulay Culkin Show Summer Comedy Festival. “What is he doing? We don’t know,” say Brett and Sally. “But we do know that we are continuing our tradition of showcasing a sampling of some of the most unique and hilarious acts in comedy today. And we’re at The Bell House, so there’s gonna be air conditioning this time.”

Bent Duo, Deerhoof @ The DiMenna Center for Classical Music
Part of the TIME:SPANS Contemporary Music Festival, Deerhoof are playing a special set on August 18 they’re calling “Deerhoof Plays Hits of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.”
