What's going on Sunday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
Eddie Vedder, Jackson Browne, Roseanne Cash, Marc Cohn @ Beacon Theater
Today is the cross-country Concert Across America to End Gun Violence and this is arguably the highest-profile show, with Eddie Vedder, Jackson Browne, and more.
Adele @ MSG
Adele’s music brings people of all ages together like few popular singers do right now. For six nights this week, she’ll do just that at Madison Square Garden. This is night 5.
Goblin Cock, Problem With Dragons @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
Though it looked like Rob Crow was gonna retire from music for a minute there, he did not in fact retire, and instead he put out two albums this year: the debut by his new band Rob Crow’s Gloomy Place, and the first album in seven years by his stoner rock band Goblin Cock. It’s great stuff, and tonight’s show should be fun.
Puff Daddy, Faith Evans, Lil Kim, Mase, 112, Total, Carl Thomas, The Lox, French Montana, DMX @ Prudential Center
While most of this lineup hasn’t had a hit in a while, they’ve been partying like it’s 1997 for the Bad Boy Family Reunion Tour, which recently added DMX.
Dinowalrus, Dead Leaf Echo, Drawing Boards, Sharkmuffin @ Rough Trade
Dinowalrus are Brooklyn’s best Madchester band and tonight they celebrate the release of their new album, with likeminded dreampop bands on the bill.
Chook Race, RIPS, Navy Gangs @ Union Pool
Jangly and poppy, warm and friendly, Australia’s Chook Race have an unassuming charm and their songs wraps their way around you upon repeat listens. If you like The Go-Bewteens or The Wedding Present, check out Chook.
Agnostic Front, Choke Artist, Mom Fight, Sunny Gang @ Brighton Bar
NYHC legends Agnostic Front are as angry and aggressive today as they were when they started out in the ’80s, as last year’s The American Dream Died proves.
Robby Krieger of the Doors, the Apocalypse Blues Revue @ Highline Ballroom
Robby Krieger left his mark on music forever as The Doors’ guitarist, and he’s a true talent that’s still a thrill to watch perform today.
Marlon Williams, Julia Jacklin @ Bowery Ballroom
Headlining this show is New Zealand’s Dead Oceans-signed Marlon Williams. If you’re going, we recommend showing up early for Australia’s Polyvinyl-signed Julia Jacklin.
Quilt, Mutual Benefit @ BSP
Kingston, NY’s not that far out of the city, you could make a nice day of it that ends with the wonderful psych pop of Quilt.
