Gorguts
Gorguts

What's going on Sunday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

It’s Halloween Weekend and there are tons of parties, including lots of covers shows, scary movies and more. Check out our Halloween Guide for lots of options.

Gorguts, Intronaut, Brain Tentacles @ (le) poisson rouge
Death metal legends Gorguts returned in 2013 with Colored Sands, which was their first album in 12 years and followed a hiatus, and it wasn’t just a solid return — it rivals their classic material. They’re back in NYC again tonight with two solid openers.

The Damned @ Gramercy Theatre
They were the first UK punk band to release an album and to tour America, and The Damned (with Dave Vanian and Captain Sensible) are still going strong 40 years later. They’re celebrating four decades with two sold-out shows at Gramercy Theatre, promising three-hour sets (and an 8 PM sharp start).

Choking Victim @ Tompkins Square Park (matinee) and Warsaw (night)
Leftover Crack returned last year with a new album and they still do a little touring, but related band Choking Victim’s shows are much rarer. The ska-core band, whose only album is 1999’s No Gods, No Managers, will play TWO NYC shows today, though: a free matinee in Tompkins Square Park and a sold-out night show at Warsaw.

White Fang, No Parents, The Birth Defects @ Baby’s All Right
The self-proclaimed “stupidest band on the planet,” White Fang make big riff party punk, which should make for a crazy show with similarly minded No Parents on the bill too.

Pavo Pavo, Ian Chang, Starchild and The New Romantic @ Manhattan Inn
Manhattan Inn is closing soon, and if you’ve been wanting to check out out before that happens, tonight’s a good show with Pavo Pavo (new LP due out soon on Bella Union) a tribute to Serge Gainsbourg’s Histoire de Melody Nelson, and Starchild and the New Romantic.

Anat Cohen Tentet, Jon Glaser@ National Sawdust
Clarinet virtuoso Anat Cohen plays tonight with her Tentet, but before that she’ll be in conversation with comedian Jon Glaser who’s new show about his love of gear is great. Are clarinets considered gear?

Soul Clap Album Release Party | Soul Clap/ Nona Hendryx (Live) @ Output
Production duo Soul Clap (Eli Goldstein and Charles Levine) celebrate the release of their new album at this party featuring a live performace by iconic singer Nona Hendryx who sings on the LP.

Mephiskapheles, The Pietasters, Murphy’s Law, The Brooklyn Attractors @ Brooklyn Bowl
The ‘5th Annual Devil’s Night Danse’ is tonight with ska vets Memphiskapheles and The Pietasters, plus NYHC heroes Murphy’s Law and reggae band The Brooklyn Attractors.

‘Ramones Way’ street naming in Forest Hills (11 AM)
The Ramones are getting a street named after them at the intersection of 67th Ave and 110th St in front of Forest Hills High School, where all four original members went to school. It’ll be called Ramones Way as of today at 11 AM. Come, rain or shine.
