It’s the final day of Panorama with Nine Inch Nails, A Tribe Called Quest, Angel Olsen, Cloud Nothings, Preoccupations and more.
Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Earth Wind & Fire @ Citi Field (Classic East)
It’s day 2 of Classic East which is headlined by the still-great Fleetwood Mac, and also features a Steve Perry-less Journey, and funk/R&B greats Earth Wind & Fire.
Liam Gallagher @ Rough Trade
With an Oasis reunion not looking very likely, Liam Gallagher is prepping his first solo album that pairs him with a few big-name songwriters including hitmaker Gred Kurstin. Having played the McKittrick on Friday, he plays this matinee show today (you had to pre-order the LP to get a ticket).
Rock Steady Crew 40th Anniversary featuring Mobb Deep (A Tribute To Prodigy), Havoc, MC Lyte, MC EIHT with DJ Premier, more @ Central Park SummerStage
Today’s free Rock Steady Crew 40th Anniversary show is now a tribute to Prodigy (who died in June). It’s being headlined by what’s being billed as Mobb Deep (Tribute to Prodigy). Havoc, who was Prodigy’s partner in Mobb Deep is also billed with his own set, plus performances from MC Lyte, and MC EIHT with DJ Premier, Smoovth, Napoleon da Legend, Haddy Racks, along with DJs Tony Touch, JS-1, DV One, Kevy Kev, and Leva57. This is a free show, starting at 2 PM.
Dynamic Diplomats of Double Dutch, Natasha Diggs @ Lincoln Center/Josie Robertson Plaza
“After a 30-plus year hiatus, Double Dutch returns to the plazas of Lincoln Center. Join us for a historic event celebrating Double Dutch and the women of color who’ve contributed to the cultural fabric of NYC through this competitive sport turned art form.” Noon, free.
Dave Harrington, Kenny Wollesen, Brian Chase, Jeremiah Cymerman, Devin Hoff Threes Brewing
Darkside’s Dave Harrington is paired with drummer Kenny Wollesen (who’s played with Tom Waits and John Zorn), while Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase is paired with clarinetist Jeremiah Cymerman.
AlunaGeorge (DJ Set), DJ Tara, Playsuit @ House of Yes
House of Yes is presenting this dance party featuring a headlining DJ set by AlunaGeorge. It’s free before 11 PM with RSVP.
Joe Pera, Dan Licata, Jon Glaser @ Union Hall
Awesomely awkward comedian Joe Pera performs tonight with Delocated‘s Jon Glazer on the bill as well.
Strand of Oaks @ The Surf Lodge
