What's going on Thursday?

Bully
Bully at 50 Kent in 2015 (more by PSquared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Splashh, NAF (Nice As Fuck) @ Bowery Electric
Not to be confused with defunct Brooklyn new age R&B band with a similar name, Australia-via-UK quartet Splashh (two H’s) make sunny garage pop. The real draw, though, tonight may be NAF which features Jenny Lewis, Erika Spring (Au Revoir Simone) and Tennessee Thomas (The Like).

Bat for Lashes @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Some 11th hour venue issues forced this Bat For Lashes show to be moved from yesterday at St. Ann’s to today at MHOW, but otherwise the idea’s the same: she’ll performing her new album The Bride in full. Wedding attire suggested.

‘Sign O the Times’ tribute @ Brooklyn Bowl
Do you miss Prince like we do? Members of Holy Ghost!, Starchild, Blood Orange and other musicians will be performing Prince’s 1987 double album Sign o’ the Times in full tonight. Early start for this one: show’s at 8PM sharp.

Whitney @ Other Music
Whitney’s debut album, Light Upon the Lake, is out tomorrow and tonight they’ll play this free in-store. Help them celebrate, plus it’s a good reason to go visit Other Music which closes in a couple weeks.

Bully, LVL UP @ Arlene’s Grocery
Bully’s 2015 debut album Feels Like hearkened back to punky ’90s alt-rock. It’s a sound that a lot of bands are bringing back right now, but Bully are one of the few with the kinds of choruses that got their influences on the radio.

Hamilton Leithauser & Paul Maroon (of The Walkmen), The Jackfields @ Union Pool
Former Walkmen bandmates Hamilton Leithauser and Paul Maroon released an EP together last year, and are now playing a few shows in support of it.

The Men, Us Weekly, Beth Israel, White Pisces @ Cake Shop
We hear The Men’s new album is in the can, so you can expect some new songs tonight. It’s also a good opportunity to catch Austin buzz band Us Weekly.

Lucy Dacus, Sam Cohen (of Apollo Sunshine) @ Rough Trade
Rising Richmond artist Lucy Dacus has a wordy deadpan delivery that’s gotten more than a few comparisons to Courtney Barnett. Her recently-released debut album No Burden is a winner and her live shows are great too.

Meyhem Lauren + Heems, DonMonique, Axel Leon @ Knitting Factory
Queens rappers Meyhem Lauren and Heems team up for a collaborative set tonight, which is sure to be a good time. Good openers on this all-local bill too.

Hive Mind, Jason lescalleet, 5chimpfluch Grupp3, Heat Identity, Aki Onda, Kilt @ Knockdown Center (Ende Eymes IV)
Ende Tymes, the sixth-annual festival of “noise and experimental liberation” kicks off tonight.

Bob Moses @ Output
Canadian duo Bob Moses make quality downtempo electronic pop. They just helped kick off the free shows at Montauk’s Surf Lodge over the weekend and tonight they’re in NYC.

Tiny Moving Parts, Prawn, Free Thrown, Vasudeva @ Studio at Webster Hall
If you like your emo with noodly, mathy guitar riffs, this bill is for you.

Carl Palmer @ BB King’s
A legend behind the kit, Carl Palmer was one third of Emerson Lake & Palmer, and also played drums with Asia and The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. Here he’s playing as “Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy” which will pay tribute to Keith Emmerson who died in March
