What’s going on Thursday?

ROSTAM at McCarren Park
Rostam in McCarren Park in 2016 (more by Maryanne Ventrice)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Jon Spencer (& the HITmakers), Bodega @ Rough Trade
While his new record, Spencer Sings the Hits, is credited to just him, he’s still exploding the blues with that signature energy, and The HITmakers include Quasi’s Sam Combs. Openers Bodega are still riding high on last year’s terrific debut, Endless Scroll.

Justin Timberlake @ MSG
Justin Timberlake had to postpone some 2018 tour dates due to damaged vocal cords, but he’s back in NYC for another Madison Square Garden show tonight. Whether or not you liked his divisive new album, his spectacular stage show and arsenal of career-spanning hits are tough to deny.

Rostam @ Lincoln Center (American Songbook Series)
Rostam is no longer in Vampire Weekend (but he did contribute to their upcoming album), though he’s keeping very busy with his solo career and tonight he plays the American Songbook Series at Lincoln Center.

Wolf Eyes, Gretchen Gonzales, Aaron Dilloway, Humanbeast, Universal Eyes, Twig Harper @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Noise vets Wolf Eyes remain ridiculously prolific and they’re heavier than ever. Whatever they’ve got in store tonight, it’s sure to be killer.

The McLean Harrington Chase (Jordan McLean, Dave Harrington, Brian Chase), Bladerunner (Dave Harrington, Will Epstein, TBC) @ Threes Brewing
Dave Harrington is celebrating his new album with five nights at Threes Brewing, each with different bands. Tonight’s first set includes trumpeter Jordan McLean and Yeah Yeah Yeahs drummer Brian Chase, and the second set includes Will Epstein (who Harrington used to collaborate with in Darkside).

Young Dolph, Kap G @ Gramercy Theater
Memphis rapper Young Dolph continues to rise, and for good reason. Last year he put out the new album Role Model and tonight the ‘Role Model Tour’ hits NYC.

Brasstracks, Kemba, Pell @ Brooklyn Steel
Jazz/hip hop duo Brasstracks headline this show, and they’ve got support from two great rappers that they collaborate with: Kemba and Pell. Maybe there will be some on-stage collaboration tonight too.

The Fleshtones, Paul Collins’ Beat, The Martinets @ Bowery Electric
Brave the cold and catch a great double bill of NYC garage rock icons The Fleshtones (who still got it) and onetime Nerves frontman Paul Collins.

60-90 Minutes of Comedy With Chris Gethard and A Friend @ Union Hall (two shows)
The title is pretty explanatory, as Chris works on his new show with a TBA “friend” opening. Both the early and late shows are sold out.

Jesse Malin (plays The Heat & more), The Liza Colby Sound, Beau @ Coney Island Baby
Jesse Malin has been playing full albums at his residency at his club Coney Island Baby, and tonight he does his 2004 sophomore album The Heat and more.
