Ambulance LTD

What's going on Thursday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Ambulance Ltd., Heaven @ Mercury Lounge
We’re not sure when the last time underrated ’00s-era NYC indie rockers Ambulance LTD actually played but it’s somewhere around a decade ago. They’ll be trotting out favorites like “Primitive,” “Stay Where You Are,” “Heavy Lifting” and “Yoga Means Union,” tonight as part of Mercury Lounge’s 25th anniversary. We wouldn’t mind if they continued to play after this.

Tibet House US benefit @ Carnegie Hall
It’s the annual Tibet House benefit at Carnegie Hall, curated by Philip Glass, and this year includes familiar faces like Laurie Anderson, New Order’s Bernard Summer, and Debbie Harry, plus Stephen Colbert, Angelique Kidjo, Jason Isbell and more.

Jeff Rosenstock, Chris Farren @ Bowery Ballroom
Jeff Rosenstock released one of the best albums of last year with POST- (his first for Polyvinyl), and now he’s set to record a live album at this BrooklynVegan-presented, four-night run at Bowery Ballroom. Each show will be opened by a different artist in Jeff’s inner circle of friends/collaborators; tonight (night two) is with Jeff’s Antarctigo Vespucci bandmate Chris Farren.

El Ten Eleven, Joan of Arc/Good Fuck @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Post-rock greats El Ten Eleven are headlining this show, and opening is two Tim Kinsella projects at once, his long-running band Joan of Arc and his new project Good Fuck. They’re promising “a one-time-only unique lineup, playing a set that is 50% deep JOA throwback and 50% preview of the future.”

Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah @ Blue Note Jazz Club
Having just announced his new album Ancestral Recall, genre-defying jazz great Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah continues his residency at the Blue Note tonight. It runs through Friday with two shows a night.

Al Jardine @ Iridium
Al Jardine co-wrote and/or sang lead on a handful of Beach Boys songs (including the massive hit “Help Me, Rhonda”) and he’s currently in Brian Wilson’s band. Tonight, you can catch him stepping out on his own.

Jelani Sei @ BRIC House
Soulful, genre-defying band Jelani Sei are preparing to release their debut album this year, but first they play this free BRIC House show for B-Side, “BRIC TV’s live in-studio music series and screening, featuring performances from emerging and established musicians.” Seating begins at 7:30, doors close at 7:45, and entry is first come, first served.

Warbly Jets, Collapsing Scenery, Moonwalks @ Brooklyn Bazaar
LA trio Warbly Jets have a distinct Britpop sound (shades of Stone Roses and Kasabian) that got them a gig touring with Liam Gallagher, and an inclusion on the latest Spider-Man game. They play tonight with art-punks Collapsing Scenery.

Ilana Glazer @ Littlefield
Now that the final season of Broad City is in the can, Ilana Glazer may tell us what’s next while hosting this comedy cavalcade tonight.
