What's going on Thursday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Anderson .Paak, Earl Sweatshirt, Thundercat @ Madison Square Garden
Rapper/singer/drummer Anderson .Paak is currently touring North America behind this year’s solid Ventura, and his live act is certainly not one to miss. Tonight’s big MSG show features killer openers Thundercat and Earl Sweatshirt, which should make for an insane triple bill.

Rufus Wainwright @ City Winery
Rufus has toured with full bands and orchestras but he doesn’t really need more than himself and a piano to mesmerize. He’ll do just that at this intimate show tonight.

Lady Lamb, Katie Von Schleicher, Alex Schaaf @ Elsewhere
Lady Lamb’s newest album Even In The Tremor has her exploring grander, more art pop-leaning territory than ever before, and she’ll celebrate that record tonight.

Art Alexakis, Chris Collingwood, Max Collins, John Wozniak @ Gramercy Theatre
As part of the “Songs and Stories” tour, Everclear frontman Art Alexakis headlines this night of ’90s alt-rock frontmen, which also includes Chris Collingwood (Fountains of Wayne), John Wozniak (Marcy Playground) and Max Collins (Eve 6). As the title of the tour suggests you’ll get anecdotes about “Santa Monica,” “Stacy’s Mom,” “Sex & Candy” and “Inside and Out” in additions to stripped down renditions (and more).

Calpurnia, The So So Glos @ Irving Plaza
Calpurnia are best known for being fronted by Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard and doing lots of covers, but they are coming into their own as well. This is a GovBall After Dark show ahead of their appearance at the NYC festival this weekend and is with Brooklyn punks The So So Glos.

Amber Mark @ Public Arts
Another GovBall After Dark show tonight features R&B singer Amber Mark, who has been riding the waves of a few great singles in recent months. Her catchy, groovy melodies are far better suited for this intimate setting, ahead of her larger GovBall set on Friday.

RVG, RIPS, People’s Court @ Mercury Lounge
Melbourne band RVG basically don’t sound like anything that’s going on currently in that city or anywhere else in Australia. They do, however, recall much of the country’s strident melodic alt-rock of the ’80s — part Before Hollywood-era Go-Betweens, part The Triffids’ sweeping scope, with some of Crime & The City Solution’s gritty romanticism and Hunters & Collectors’ anthemic tendencies. The force behind RVG is singer/guitarist/songwriter Romy Vager whose confessional lyrics — with subjects including love, death,  substance abuse, and the isolation of being trans —  go hand in hand with her impassioned delivery. They’ll also play with fellow Aussies Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever on Friday.

Mini Mansions, James Supercave @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
LA pop trio Mini Mansions (which includes members of QOTSA and The Last Shadow Puppets) begin their US tour with this stop at Music Hall of Williamsburg, ahead of the release of their third LP Guy Walks Into A Bar in July.

Doe Paoro, Little Kruta @ National Sawdust
California singer-songwriter Doe Paoro will have some instrumental backing from orchestral group Little Kruta at this special National Sawdust show, which entails a “performance of her music reimagined for an all-female orchestra.”

The Austerity Program, Dalek, Pyrrhon, Nordra @ Union Pool
NYC post-hardcore/noise rock staples The Austerity Program are playing this special record release show in Brooklyn tonight, premiering their new album Bible Songs 1, which drops in June.

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band @ Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater
Arguably the king of Midwest heartland rock, Bob Seger brings is playing all his many hits on this farewell tour.

The Beach Boys @ The Paramount
The current incarnation of The Beach Boys, fronted by Mike Love, stops by Huntington’s The Paramount as part of their US tour.
