You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

MC50, Sharkmuffin @ Le Poisson Rouge
Wayne Kramer of proto-punk legends MC5 keeps his old band’s music alive with MC50, whose great lineup is rounded out by Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Brendan Canty (Fugazi), Billy Gould (Faith No More), and Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla).

Z100 Summer Bash ft. Lil Nas X, Quinn XCII, Marshmello, Kane Brown @ The Rooftop at Pier 17
His full EP wasn’t so hot, but it’s still been the year of Lil Nas X thanks to the record-breaking fame of “Old Town Road.” He headlines the Z100 Summer Bash tonight.

Big Business, A Deer A Horse, Part Chimp @ Saint Vitus
Big Business are riding high off the strength of this year’s The Beast You Are, a very catchy yet very heavy new album that would fit nicely next to the latest by Torche and Baroness. This is Big Business and A Deer A Horse’s first of two Saint Vitus shows this week, and this one will be opened by UK noise rock/sludge metal vets Part Chimp.

The Natvral (Kip Berman TPOBPAH), Nicole Yun (Eternal Summers), Honeycutt, Bloom @ Our Wicked Lady Rooftop
Kanine Records is throwing this rooftop party with four of their artists, including The Natvral (aka Kip Berman of Pains of Being Pure at Heart), Eternal Summers’ Nicole Yun, Boston band Honeycutt, and

Hammered Hulls, Clear Channel @ Union Pool
Hammered Hulls is the new band from (mostly) DC punk vets Alec MacKaye (Untouchables, The Faith, Ignition, etc), Mary Timony (Autoclave, Helium, Wild Flag, Ex Hex, etc), Mark Cisneros(Kid Congo, The Make-Up, etc), and Chris Wilson (Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Titus Andronicus). They’re very much in the Faith/Ignition mold with maybe a little AmRep noise in there as well.

Yowler, Dark Tea, Outer Spaces, James Matthew VII @ The Broadway
This is an all around cool bill of indie/DIY stuff that falls on the folkier side.

Michael Che, Jermaine Fowler, Michelle Wolf, The Lucas Brothers, Lil Rel @ Brooklyn Steel
SNL Weekend Update’s Michael Che headlines “LugerFest,” which is a tribute to comedian Kevin Barnett (who died in January).
