What's going on Thursday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Mac DeMarco, Dustin Wong, Takako Minekawa @ Brooklyn Steel
Mac DeMarco struck out on his own this year, releasing Here Comes the Cowboy on his own Mac’s Record Label. He’s well-known for his wild stage antics, but underneath the burps his songs have heart.

Tycho, Poolside @ Central Park SummerStage
Tycho added a new element to their blissed out sound on Weather — vocals. Saint Sinner sings on five of the album’s eight songs and her airy voice fits in perfectly with Tycho’s effervescent style. It’s make for nice sunset music at this SummerStage show.

Madonna @ BAM: Brooklyn Academy of Music
Madonna’s Madame X tour has begun with a 17-show run at BAM, some of the most intimate shows of her career. The show is heavy on her new album but it’s a rare chance to get up close and personal with Madge.

Adam Ant @ Beacon Theatre
Post-punk/new-wave vet Adam Ant is back in North America on the Friend or Foe tour where he’s play his 1982 solo debut — that includes the hits “Goody Two Shoes,” “Desperate but Not Serious” and the title track — in full, plus a selection of other solo and Ants favorites.

Hater, Wooing @ Berlin
Malmö quartet Hater recall classic Swedish indiepop such as The Concretes, Acid House Kings, Sambassadeur and, yes, The Cardigans, with their genial, jangly pop that just skirts winsome/whimsy territory. This is their first-ever NYC show.

‘Punk the Capital’ screening @ Nitehawk Cinema
Documentary Punk the Capital takes a look at the early DC punk scene and features rare Super-8 footage and more. Part of the BrooklynVegan-presented Music Driven series, the screening also features a Q&A with Lyle Preslar (Minor Threat, Extorts, Samhain), Howard Wuelfing (Nurses, Slickee Boys, Yesterday and Today Records), Gary Gabriel (The Enzymes), and the film’s co-creators James June Schneider, Paul Bishow and Sam Lavine, plus “surprise guests.”

Test Dept, Severed Heads, Paul Barker, Anatomy @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Cold Waves Fest concludes tonight with with industrial icons Test Dept, Australia’s Severed Heads, Paul Barker (Ministry, Revolting Cocks), and more.

DJ Patrick Codenys, Confines, DJ Andi Harriman @ Saint Vitus Bar
You can keep the Cold Waves going with the official afterparty featuring Front 242’s Patrick Codenys on DJ duty and a live set from Confines (Saint Vitus owner David Castillo’s industrial solo project).

Saintseneca, Adult Mom @ Baby’s All Right
Harmony-fueled indie folkies Saintseneca have been dropping some new singles lately, and now they’re taking their show on the road. The tour hits Brooklyn tonight with local support from Adult Mom.

Tom Morello @ Minetta Lane Theatre
Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and Prophets of Rage’s Tom Morello continues his three-night Off-Broadway run of stories and music tonight. Tom says, “I was the only black kid in an all-white town, the only anarchist at a conservative high school, the only heavy metal guitarist at Harvard University, and the only Ivy League Star Trek nerd in the biggest political rap rock band of all time. The songs, the stories, the triumphs, the tragedies, the riffs, the rebellion — all will be revealed. Oh, and I’m going play a lot of ripping guitar, too.”

Masked Intruder, Direct Hit, The Young Rochelles @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
This is a solid bill all around of hard-hitting yet catchy punk, headlined by the mask-wearing Masked Intruder.

Lil Durk, Danileigh, Phresher, Lea Robinson @ PlayStation Theater
Chicago rapper Lil Durk celebrates his new album Love Songs 4 The Streets 2 with a NYC release show tonight.

H2O, Comeback Kid, Abuse Of Power, 64, Be Well @ Amityville Music Hall
New York melodic hardcore vets H2O are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, and their live show remains as fun and full of energy as ever. Direct support comes from Canadian hardcore lifers Comeback Kid, and you also won’t went to miss the up-and-coming Abuse of Power, who pair very well with H2O.

Bleached, The Paranoyds, Sabri @ Elsewhere
L.A. duo Bleached almost imploded but came out the other side happier and glossier.

Ellen Allien, Heidi Sabertooth, Juila Govor, Mike Servito, Justin Cudmore @ Halcyon The Shop
Long-running, dance-music-oriented record store Halcyon has moved to a new Brooklyn location, now part of the Etiquette Café and events space at 53 Broadway (between Berry and Wythe) and hosts Ellen Allien’s “Vinylism” series tonight.

Alarm Will Sound, Eartheater @ Kaufman Center (Merkin Hall)

Mystery Science Theater 3000 Live! @ Kings Theatre
MST3K creator Joel Hodgson, alongside bots Tom Servo, Crow, and Gypsy, will be riffing live to early Jean-Claude Van Damme film No Retreat, No Surrender . THey’ll do a different turkey on Friday.

yMusic, Emily King @ The Bell House

Michael Che, Colin Jost @ St. George Theater

Free Throw, Chris Farren, Youth Fountain, Macseal @ Knitting Factory
Fans of indie/emo/punk crossover, don’t miss this stacked bill.

Brant Bjork, Ecstatic Vision @ The Kingsland
Stoner rock veteran and former Kyuss/Fu Manchu member Brant Bjork and heavy psych band Ecstatic Vision are on the road together, and that’s a well-matched pairing, Brant just reissued his 1999 solo debut Jalamanta last week on Heavy Psych Sounds, and Ecstatic Vision are releasing their new album For The Masses on that same label this week.
