What's going on Thursday?

Sumac
Sumac at Saint Vitus in 2015 (more by PSquared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Sumac, Jaye Jayle, Nordra @ Saint Vitus
Sumac is the current band of Isis frontman Aaron Turner (with members of Botch and Bapists), and while it’s not exactly like Isis, the greatness of this band really fills the void left by Isis’ breakup. Jaye Jayle, the solo project of Young Widows singer Evan Patterson, provides direct support.

Lily McQueen, Annie Hart of Au Revoir Simone, Maria Usbeck @ C’mon Everybody
If you lean towards ’80s synthpop, here’s a swell bill featuring Au Revoir Simone’s Annie Hart, onetime Selebritites singer Maria Usbeck (whose new LP is lovely) and Lily McQueen.

M.A.K.U. Soundsystem @ DUMBO (Manhattan Bridge) Archway
For the second year in a row, DUMBO is playing host to the Live At the Archway series, which is “a weekly cabaret below the Manhattan Bridge with free performances, beer, wine, and a magical, only-in-DUMBO setting.” The series continues today with Columbian-inflected dance/percussion outfit M.A.K.U. Soundsystem.

Sun Araw @ MoMA
Every Thursday in July and August, MoMA hosts live music in their Sculpture Garden for the MoMA Nights series. It runs from 5:30-8PM, and today there’s music from experimentalist Sun Araw.

Marching Church, Nico Muhly @ National Sawdust
When he’s not fronting Iceage, Elias Bender Rønnenfelt makes equally dramatic music with his band Marching Church. Their new album, Telling It Like It Is, will be out this fall on Sacred Bones. Before their set tonight, there will be two Nico Muhly pieces performed by violinist Jannina Norpoth and pianist Adam Tendler: Honest Music (2002) and Drones and Violin (2011).

Wiki, Antwon, Princess Nokia, Kirk Knight, Jaguar Pyramids @ Pier 83 YachtRap – Circle Line Cruises
Hop aboard this cruise with a handful of great names from rap’s weird underground.

Rick Springfield, Night Ranger, The Romantics @ The Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk
If you ever wished for “Boogie Nights Soundtrack: LIVE!” this may be as close as you’re gonna get.

Prince Rama, Hey Anna @ WFMU Monty Hall
Having released the very fun Xtreme Now earlier this year, nu age party starters Prince Rama will spice things up in Newark tonight.

Electric Six @ Rocks Off Concert Cruises Aboard THE JEWEL
With riffs and bravado fighting for attention, Electric Six have always had tongue firmly in cheek back to the days of “Danger! High Voltage!” when they claimed they invented the night. On a boat seems like the ultimate place to catch them.
