What's going on Thursday?

Banks & Steelz at FYF Fest 2016 - Sunday
Banks & Steelz w/ Kool Keith @ FYF 2016 (more by Tod Seelie for FYF Fest)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Banks and Steelz, Kool Keith @ Bowery Ballroom
It’s the collaboration no one was waiting for but Interpol’s Paul Banks and Wu-Tang’s RZA seem to be having fun so why spoil their party? Add opener Kool Keith and you’ve got a night that will probably be unlike any, at least till Del the Funky Homosapien and Carlos D decide to make a record.

Shannon and the Clams, White Mystery, Big Huge @ Market Hotel
With a sound straight out of the early days of Rock n’ Roll, Shannon & the Clams bring big hooks and personality (and a lot of fun) to the table. It’s bound to get wild tonight at this their second Market Hotel show.

Hockey Dad, Muuy Biien, Sharkmuffin @ Rough Trade
Australian duo Hockey Dad celebrate the release of their debut album tonight with Athens, GA’s rambunctious Muuy Biien and Brooklyn’s Sharkmuffin making for a solid bill.

Faux Ferocious, Sun Voyager, Zip Tie Handcuffs, Vamanos @ Shea Stadium
Nashville four-piece Faux Ferocious make nervy, anxious, mutant pop, the kind that sounds like when sleep has not been a top priorty and you start to, ever-so-slightly, lose grip on reality. In a good way, obviously. You may want to nap before this

White Bike, Kassa Overall, James Chance @ Union Pool
Daniel Schlett runs Brooklyn’s Strange Weather studio but also makes music as White Bike with a variety of collaborators. Tonight he’s got no wave icon James Chance on the bill.

Andy Stott, Demdike Stare, Vatican Shadow, Becka Diamond (DJ set) @ Analog BKNY
This show is pretty stacked with electronic music, including the beautiful/melodic Andy Stott, the darker Demdike Stare, and Prurient main man Dominick Fernow’s other project Vatican Shadow.

Dave Chappelle @ Gramercy Theatre
The hilarious Dave Chappelle often plays much larger venues than Gramercy Theatre, but tonight he’s in the midst of a run at this intimate space. Not surprisingly, it’s sold out.

Champagne Jerry @ Joe’s Pub
Frequent collaborator of Beastie Boy Ad-Rock, novelty rapper Champagne Jerry returns to Joe’s Pub tonight.

Kevin Seconds, Steve Soto @ Don Pedro
In addition to fronting melodic hardcore legends 7Seconds, Kevin Seconds has a very active solo career and returns to NYC tonight. Opening is Steve Soto (of Adolescents, formerly also of Agent Orange).

Agent Orange, Fea @ Saint Vitus Bar
Speaking of Agent Orange, the current incarnation of that band plays Brooklyn’s home of underground heavy music, Saint Vitus, tonight. Fea (who you may remember from when they recently opened for Babes In Toyland) open.
