What's going on Thursday?

Sampha at The Metro
Sampha at The Metro (more by James Richards IV)

With a winter storm expected today, you might want to call the venue (or check their Twitter/Facebook) to make sure shows are still havppening. You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Allison Crutchfield and the Fizz, Radiator Hospital, Pinkwash @ Sunnyvale
Allison Crutchfield has spent the past decade-plus making some of the best indie-punk around as a member of Swearin’, PS Eliot, and other bands. Now she’s signed to Merge and going solo with a synthy indie rock record that’s slower and more polished than her earlier work, but just as emotionally bare. Frequent collaborators Radiator Hospital provide direct support at this show, and they’re equally worth catching. It’s also worth showing up for noisy punks Pinkwash.

Sampha, Mal Devisa @ Terminal 5
Sampha first emerged as one of the voices of SBTRKT’s debut album. Then he appeared on albums by Drake, Kanye, Frank Ocean, and Solange; and now his debut solo album Process is out. He’s on tour with Mal Devisa, who mixes lo-fi indie with her soulful, belted vocals.

Joyce Manor, AJJ, Mannequin Pussy @ Amityville Music Hall
Joyce Manor released one of the best rock albums last year with Cody, and their live shows — which rely equally on the new album and old favorites — are even more fun than the records. Tonight’s show is with folky indie-punks AJJ and shoegazy punks Mannequin Pussy.

Flo Morrissey, Matthew E. White, Winstons @ Baby’s All Right
Matthew E. White met Flo Morrissey at a Lee Hazlewood tribute in London where they performed “Some Velvet Morning.” The two hit it off and from there it spun off into an album of duet covers, Gentlewoman, Ruby Man, which was released in January. Their voices suit each other and the record’s smooth, lush vibe.

Jerry Seinfeld @ Beacon Theater (2 shows)
What’s the deal with these Beacon shows? Jerry’s doing one every month this year — two tonight, actually.

Public Access TV, Splashh, The Britanys @ Bowery Ballroom
New York’s poppy indie rock band PATV (think the Strokes’ little cousins) bring their tour with UK band Splashh to Bowery Ballroom.

White Denim, Sam Cohen @ Brooklyn Bowl
Austin’s White Denim know their way around Southern Rock, and play tonight with former Yellowbirds frontman Sam Cohen.

Bob Mould (solo electric) @ City Winery
Bob Mould may be playing without a band tonight, but don’t think that means he won’t be loud. He will as he mixes solo, Sugar and Husker Du songs.

Sleigh Bells, Hrishikesh Hirway @ Kaufman Center
The Ecstatic Music Festival, that pairs pop with modern composers, continues tonight with this live taping of the “Song Exploder” podcast featuring Sleigh Bells.

Black Marble, Uniform, YOU. @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Uniform recently released their second album, Wake In Fright, which takes their noise/hardcore blend in new directions with traces of thrash, EBM, and more. It’s easily the best thing they’ve done yet. They celebrate it tonight, sandwiched in between two goth bands, Black Marble and YOU.

So Hideous, Meek is Murder, Tiger Flowers, Black Table @ Saint Vitus
MetalSucks is celebrating its 10th anniversary with this show, which brings some of the better bands in NYC’s underground metal scene together.

“Ladies Night” w/ Brian McKnight, Keith Sweat, Eric Benet, Jagged Edge, Dru Hill, Silk, Mario Winans, Big Daddy Kane @ Barclays Center
A host of classic R&B and hip hop stars come together for this Valentine’s Day “Ladies Night” concert.
