What's going on Tuesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Ashley Monroe, Ryan Culwell @ Rough Trade
Country singer Ashley Monroe is fresh off releasing her new album Sparrow, which is a little more haunting than its predecessor and has some really nice string arrangements. She celebrates with this small-ish show.

The Skull Eclipses, Dalek @ Union Pool
This is a great double bill of experimental hip hop, with Lushlife and Botany’s new collaborative project The Skull Eclipses, and the industrial-leaning Dalek.

Jeremy Enigk @ a Brooklyn living room show
Later this year, Sunny Day Real Estate frontman Jeremy Enigk is reissuing his classic 1996 solo debut Return of the Frog Queen and going on a major tour in support of it. Before that, he’s on a living room tour which wraps up tonight. Sold out.

The Lillingtons, MakeWar, The Young Rochelles, Twin Strike @ Saint Vitus
Melodic punk vets The Lillingtons returned last year with Stella Sapiente, their first album in 11 years and their darkest and heaviest one yet. They’re on tour now in support of it.

Rina Sawayama, Molly Soda (DJ) @ Mercury Lounge
Japan-born and London-based singer Rina Sawayama makes music that’s nostalgic for all kinds of ’90s pop (you can hear hints of Mariah, Britney, Aaliyah, The Cardigans, and more), but she very much updates it for the present. She’s on the rise — tonight’s show is sold out.

Anik Khan @ Knitting Factory
Rapper Anik Khan was born in Bangladesh and moved to Queens when he was four years old, and you can hear the influence of both of those hometowns in his music. Last year, he released the very good Kites EP. Tonight, he plays a free-with-RSVP Heineken Green Room show.

Ilana Glazer, Phoebe Robinson @ Union Hall
While the very funny Ilana Glazer and Phoebe Robinson are usually busy with Broad City and 2 Dope Queens, respectively, they also find time to team up for stuff together, including their recurring “YQY” shows (that’s Yaaas Queen Yaaas). They’re doing three at Union Hall this week, starting tonight, followed by three at Music Hall of Williamsburg.
