What's going on Tuesday?

Wolf Parade @ T5, 2010
Wolf Parade @ T5, 2010 (more by Vincent Cornelli)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Wolf Parade, Doomsquad @ Bowery Ballroom
After five years of hibernation, Montreal’s Wolf Parade are back with a brand-new EP and five sold-out Bowery Ballroom shows this week. If you’re going tonight, do get there in time to see Toronto’s funky Doomsquad.

John Doe @ Rough Trade
Frontman of legendary L.A. band X, John Doe has reflected on his past in his new book Under the Big Black Sun: A Personal History of L.A. Punk. He’ll read from the book and play a few songs tonight at this free in-store.

The Kills, L.A. Witch @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
We’re getting a new Kills album in June, and they’ve been playing songs from it on their current tour which has already hit Brooklyn a few times this year.

Mac DeMarco, Tall Juan, Harsh Crowd @ Market Hotel
Equal parts heartfelt, funny and crude, Mac DeMarco’s popularity continues to grow. Him at Market Hotel tonight? Expect madness.

The Sword, Purson, From Beyond @ Brooklyn Bowl
If you’re looking for a triple dose of modern bands bringing back ’60s/’70s psych rock, this Brooklyn Bowl bill should do the trick.

The Field @ Good Room
The Field, aka Swedish electronic music producer/DJ Axel Willner, has been deftly walking the blissful line between techno and ambient for 20 years. His new album, The Follower, was released earlier this year.

Bird of Youth, Mark Eitzel @ Union Pool
Bird of Youth, aka Beth Wawerna, is about to release her new album Get Off, a nice dose of mid-tempo indie rock with classic-pop songwriting. Tonight’s the release show, with American Music Club frontman Mark Eitzel opening.

The Men, Useless Eaters, Heaven’s Gate, Lawsuits @ Palisades
Brooklyn’s The Men have a new album on the way and hopefully they’ll be previewing tracks from it tonight. This show is with SF/Memphis art punks Useless Eaters and the shoegazy rock of Heaven’s Gate

Jaakko Eino Kalevi, Tickle Torture, Deep Dark Blue @ Baby’s All Right
Finnish tram-driver-turned-dreampop-musician Jaakko Eino Kalevi makes lightly dancey music that’s ethereal without completely floating off into the atmosphere.

Ryan Sambol (The Strange Boys), Cut Worms, Lomelda @ Berlin
Falling somewhere between The Everly Brothers and Harry Nilsson, Cut Worms is a charmingly quirky performer with some great songs. He opens for former Strange Boys frontman Ryan Sambol tonight.

Cage the Elephant, Portugal. The Man, Broncho @ Central Park SummerStage
SummerStage at Central Park kicks off its 2016 season with two nights featuring three anthemic pop acts (night 2).

The 1975, The Japanese House, Wolf Alice @ Barclays Center
The 1975 may be heavy on the cheese, but they’re also an ambitious rock band with virtually no inhibitions, and we could use more of those. It’s easy to see how they quickly got popular enough to play huge venues like this one.

The Snails, Zack Mexico @ Wonder Bar
The Snails are a side project with members of Future Islands (including charismatic singer Samuel T. Herring), and they really commit to their name with members in large snail outfits at their shows.

Lamb of God, Clutch, Corrosion of Conformity @ The Paramount
Lamb of God continue to take out good openers on their tours this year. This one’s got veteran riffers Clutch and shapeshifting metal greats Corrosion of Conformity, who are back with Pepper Keenan.

IFC Brooklyn Comedy Backyard Showcase ft. Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancherla, JoePera, Joyelle Johnson & more @ Littlefield
The folks at IFC are sponsoring this comedy showcase featuring some of Brooklyn’s finest…plus free BBQ, drinks and more. It’s all free with RSVP.

Cake Shop Comedy @ Cake Shop
If you miss Big Terrific and Hannibal Buress’ Sunday night show at Knit, and are looking for a new free, weekly comedy show that happens in a rock club and sometimes has big name talent stop by unexpectedly, “Cake Shop Comedy” might do the trick.
