Lola Kirke, of the talented Kirke family (see also Domino and Jemima) just released her debut album, Heart Head West, and celebrates with this, her first of three consecutive nights at Union Pool.
Glenn Tilbrook (of Squeeze) @ City Winery
Usually Glenn is out with his Squeeze songwriting partner Chris Difford, but he’s going it alone tonight.
Michael McDonald @ Pier 17 Rooftop
As part of the Doobie Brothers and solo (not to mention his many guest backing vocal appearances) Michael McDonald was one of the inescapable voices of the ’70s and ’80s, with his dozens of hits. Ya mo be there?
Zao, The Atlas Moth, Yashira @ Saint Vitus
Metalcore vets Zao headline this show, and if you’re going, it’s also worth showing up for Chicago psych metallers The Atlas Moth, who released the great Coma Noir earlier this year.
Fishbone, Eastbourne & P-Funk North @ House of Independents
Alt/metal/funk/punk/ska/et vets Fishbone are back with original drummer Fish Fisher, original keyboardist/trombonist/vocalist Chris Dowd, and longtime guitarist John Bigham, and — along with long-running members Angelo Moore, Norwood Fisher, and Walt Kibby — that means Fishbone have almost their entire “classic lineup” intact (everyone except guitarist Kendall Jones).
Dan + Joe + Hotdog Show @ NY Distilling Co
Dan Licata and Joe Pera host this weekly show at The Shanty (inside the NY Distilling Co), and for a free show, it always packs a hefty lineup. This week’s features Chris Redd (SNL), Kate Willett (Comedy Central), and David Drake (Sirius XM Raw Dog Comedy).
Brown Privilege Comedy @ Friends and Lovers
Saurin Choksi with DJ Sareen host this monthly comedy show, which combines their interests of music and comedy. This month’s show features stand up from Shane Torres (Comedy Central), Tawanda Gona (Bridgetown Comedy Festival), Rojo Perez (Conan O’Brien Presents: Team Coco), and Rosebud Baker (Just for Laughs).
