What's going on Tuesday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
St. Vincent & Thomas Bartlett @ BAM
St. Vincent and Thomas Bartlett (aka Doveman) recently released MassEducation, a stripped-down, piano-and-vocal reworking of St. Vincent’s great 2017 album MASSEDUCTION. They’ve also been playing some shows in that same style, and they’ll do just that at BAM tonight. Sold out.
Pixies (Come On Pilgrim… It’s Surfer Rosa) @ Brooklyn Steel
As the name says, Pixies will be playing their classic debut mini-LP Come On Pilgrim and their classic debut full-length Surfer Rosa in full at this show, and they’ve also been working in songs from their original demo (and more). This is the final night of a three-night run at Brooklyn Steel.
Young Fathers, Algiers @ Elsewhere
Young Fathers and Algiers are two bands who are impossible to pin down into one genre, and they make for a pretty great match. Young Fathers are touring in continued support of this year’s Cocoa Sugar (which is already landing on year-end lists), and Algiers are still supporting last year’s The Underside of Power.
Jorge Elbrecht, CMON, Scott Gilmore @ Baby’s All Right
The man behind Violens and Lansing-Drieden, as well as producer of albums by No Joy, Tamaryn, Frankie Rose and more, Jorge Elbrecht released his first solo album earlier this year and plays this rare show tonight as part of Baby’s All Right’s 5th anniversary. CMON (aka Confusing Mix of Nations) is the new band from Josh da Costa and Jamen Whitelock of Regal Degal.
Digitalism, Rinsed @ Good Room
German electronica duo Digitalism, who straddle the line between straight-up dance music and moody soundtrack type music, have been busy this year with a handful of singles and EPs.
Treya Lam & friends featuring Kaki King @ Joe’s Pub
Guitar great Kaki King is now also trying her hand at producing and running a record label, and the first artist she’s working with is Treya Lam, who released her Kaki King-produced Good News on Kaki’s label back in June. They play together at Joe’s Pub tonight.
