George Clinton at Okeechobee Festival
George Clinton at Okeechobee 2017 (more by Brian Hensley)

What's going on Tuesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Galactic, Fishbone, Dumpstaphunk & Miss Velvet @ SummerStage at Central Park
Having piloted the Mothership for some 50 years, George Clinton is retiring from touring but has been on an extended farewell tour. He says this SummerStage show, which has a great lineup all-around, will be his last in NYC.

Patti LaBelle @ BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival at Prospect Park
Meanwhile in Brooklyn, the great Patti LaBelle kicks off the 2019 BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival in Prospect Park tonight with this free show.

Bikini Kill, Pinocchio @ Kings Theatre
Reunited riot grrrl legends Bikini Kill are finally back for their first tour in over 20 years, and their four-show NYC run began with two shows this past weekend. The shows saw Bikini Kill in incredible form, and they’ll do it again at Kings Theatre tonight and tomorrow. This show is being opened by new-ish post-punks Pinocchio (mem Vexx, Crazy Spirit, Dawn of Humans, Anasazi).

Kindness, Slauson Malone (DJ) @ Baby’s All Right
Kindness haven’t released an album in five years but has been busy collaborating with Robyn, Solange, Blood Orange and more. Find out what Kindness has been up to, and what’s next, tonight.

FACS, Russian Baths, Hubble @ Saint Vitus
On their second album, Lifelike, Chicago trio FAC (survived from the ashes of Disappears) added more melody and focuses more on the rhythm section, but stayed pitch-black. They’re best experienced live (drummer Noah Leger is astonishing). The undercard, featuring Russian Baths and Hubble (Ben Greenberg of The Men), is great too.

DeJ Loaf @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Detroit rapper/singer DeJ Loaf has been putting out promising music for a few years now, and the anticipation remains high for her oft-delayed debut album. While we wait for more info on that, she plays this free Steve Madden show tonight.

Coheed & Cambria, Mastodon, Every Time I Die @ Stone Pony Summer Stage
This is a pretty solid triple bill all around for fans of mid 2000s melodic metal, and it’s especially exciting because Mastodon are celebrating the 10th anniversary of 2009’s proggy Crack the Skye on this tour.

Maggie Rogers, The Knocks (DJ), Nina Sky (DJ) @ MoMA Party in the Garden
Before MoMA closes over the summer for renovations, the museum will host its annual Party in the Garden gala and fundraiser tonight. This year’s performer is alt-pop breakout star Maggie Rogers.
