BrooklynVegan + Margin Walker Lost Weekend 2019 at Mohawk
Fury at BrooklynVegan SXSW 2019 (more by Amanda Hatfield)

What's going on Tuesday?

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Fury, Diztort, Wild Side, Steel Cage @ Saint Vitus
Fury’s new album (and first for Run For Cover) Failed Entertainment is one of the year’s very best hardcore albums, the kind that defies the genre without abandoning it, and Fury’s live show might be even better. Tonight their tour with fellow West Coasters Diztort hits NYC, and it’s worth showing up early for Canadian NYHC revivalists Wild Side, who have been on the rise and recently dropped their debut LP Who The Hell Is WILD SIDE? on Triple B (former home of Fury).

Billie Eilish, Denzel Curry @ Rooftop at Pier 17
Billie Eilish is probably the most popular breakout artist in the world right now that falls under the “alternative” umbrella, and she is using her fame to do cool things like take the comparatively underground rapper Denzel Curry (who Billie collaborated with before blowing up) out on tour with her. The tour hits Pier 17 tonight and Radio City tomorrow.

AJ Tracey, Swoosh God @ Elsewhere Zone One
It’s been a big year for UK rap, and one of the year’s finest UK rap albums is AJ Tracey’s self-titled debut (which features Giggs, Jay Critch, and more). He headlines Elsewhere Zone One tonight and returns to NYC in July for Warm Up.

Miss June @ Berlin
New Zealand’s Miss June make catchy, punky alternative rock, as heard on their recently-released two-song single for Frenchkiss, “Best Girl” / “Twitch.” They’re playing a free show at Berlin tonight, which is their second of three NYC shows this month.

Soundgarden ‘Live From The Artists Den’ screening @ Brooklyn Steel
This is an “immersive” screening of Soundgarden concert film, Live from the Artists Den, that was shot at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theater in 2013 and is a multi-screen presentation featuring a “live remix of the original multitrack 48-channel audio in L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound.”

Helado Negro, Tasha @ Elsewhere Rooftop
Roberto Carlos Lange released This Is How You Smile, his sixth album as Helado Negro, back in March. A deeply personally record, the lush production touches on windswept tropical pop, electronic textures, funk, soul, Latin pop and more. It should make for a nice soundtrack to the sunset on Elsewhwhere’s rooftop.

Sea Wolf (with string quartet) @ National Sawdust
This intimate show will feature Sea Wolf backed by a string quartet, playing their 2014 album, Song Spells No.1: Cedarsmoke. This marks the first time any of the songs from the album have been performed live with a full band.

Night Moves, Liam Benzvi @ Rough Trade
Minneapolis duo Night Moves are back with a new album of neon-lit, synth-fueled heartland rock, titled Can You Really Find Me, that will be out June 28 via Domino. Get an early taste tonight.

Radiant Baby, Russell Louder, Awkward , Bodytalk, Blanks, Sate, Yori @ Pianos
Part of the A2iM Indie Week conference, this show features bands from Canada and The Netherlands. It’s free with RSVP and we recommend Montreal synthpop acts Radiant Baby and Russell Louder.

Ariana Grande @ MSG
Ariana Grande is — without competition — the biggest and most highly acclaimed pop star in the world right now. She’s fresh off headlining Coachella and releasing two unstoppable albums, and if you care even a little bit about pop music, you probably at least have a soft spot for her recent hits. This is the third of her four NYC shows.
