The Breaks Volume II at Toyota Park

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Gustaf, Sugarlife Orchestra, Sylvea Suydam, Luxardo @ Baby’s All Right
Quirky, entertaining Brooklyn post-punk band Gustaf continue their January residency at Baby’s tonight and with Sugarlife Orchestra also on the bill, it’s an appealingly oddball night.

Maurice Brown, Talib Kweli, Isaiah Sharkey, Ben Williams, James Francies, Mike Mitchell @ Blue Note (2 shows)
Trumpeter Maurice “Mobetta” Brown is doing his Birthday Vibes Sessions at the Blue Note through Wednesday, with 8 PM and 10:30 PM shows each night. Tonight, he’ll be joined by special guest Talib Kweli.

Motion City Soundtrack, The Sidekicks, Pronoun @ The Paramount
Motion City Soundtrack finally ended their three-plus-year hiatus with a New Year’s Eve show in Chicago, and now they’re in the midst of their first major tour since 2016. They’re hitting Long Island tonight, NYC on Wednesday, and NJ on Friday. Good openers too.

Aaron Dilloway, Container @ Union Pool
Brooklyn Brewery presents this free night of experimental noise, tape loops and drone with Wolf Eyes’ Aaron Dilloway and Container.

Stew & Heidi @ Joe’s Pub
The songwriting team behind Passing Strange offer up an evening of “stripped down versions of your favorite Stew & Heidi show-tunes plus delightfully obscure rock, pop, soul & Broadway covers picked from their demonically delightful record collections.” They’ll be accompanied by Loser’s Lounge bandleader Joe McGinty.

Punderdome @ Littlefield
Comedian Jo Firestone created this game show she co-hosts with her father inviting the punniest of you to participate as well.

You can also find quality entertainment on almost any night of the week at: Barbès bar and performance space in Park Slope, LunÀtico in Bed Stuy, Nublu in the East Village, Blue Note jazz club in the West Village, The Stone in multiple locations, Comedy Cellar in the West Village, and Q.E.D. comedy club in Astoria.
