What’s going on Tuesday?

Deradoorian @ Baby’s All Right, 2015 (more by PSquared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Deradoorian, Sam Muglia, Greg Fox, Eartheater @ Union Pool
Deradoorian put out her debut album last year, which pulled from influences from all over the world. It’s a little progressive, a little psychedelic, and always strangely accessible. She continues her Union Pool residency with this night of ambient drone where there audience is invited to “sit and close their eyes, listen, drink some tea, get weird, whatever.”

Pop. 1280, Nite Fields, Winkie @ Baby’s All Right
It’s a night of the dark stuff, featuring industrial-leaning Brooklyn outfit Pop. 1280 with an undercard of similarly gothy groups.

Nada Surf @ Bowery Ballroom
Nada Surf just released their new album, You Know Who You Are. There aren’t many surprises on it, but it’s full of great Nada Surf songs. Sold out, but they’ll be back in September for more NYC shows.

Emmy the Great @ Rough Trade
Emmy the Great releases her new album Second Love this week and celebrates tonight with this free in-store. No purchase or wristband required.

Conan, Serial Hawk, Volt Direction, Somnuri @ Saint Vitus
UK doom greats Conan put out another winner with Reveangance, which came out earlier this year on Napalm Records. Their tour with Seattle’s likeminded Serial Hawk hits NYC tonight.

Literary Death Match feat. Michael Shannon, Wyatt Cenac, Victor LaValle, Belinda McKeon, Adrian Todd Zuniga, Idra Novey @ Bell House
Tonight is the 10th anniversary of ‘Literary Death March,’ where “four writers read their own work for seven minutes or less, and are then judged by three all-star judges.” Tonight those judges include actor Michael Shannon, comedian Wyatt Cenac and a third to be announced.

Cake Shop Comedy @ Cake Shop
If you miss Big Terrific and Hannibal Buress’ Sunday night show at Knit, and are looking for a new free, weekly comedy show that happens in a rock club and sometimes has big name talent stop by unexpectedly, “Cake Shop Comedy” might do the trick. Tonight features sets by Matteo Lane, Wes Haney , Hadith Robinson and more.
