Glass Animals, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Shilpa Ray, Madame Gandhi @ BAM Cafe
This is the kickoff event for Google’s GOODFest which will happen in five cities to “inspire action and optimism around five causes.” Tonight’s cause is “generosity” and if you can’t make it, they’ll livestream it as well.

Norah Jones @ Beacon Theater
Norah released her sixth solo album, Day Breaks, back in October, another collection of classic-sounding vocal jazz.

Sam Roberts Band, Hollerado @ Bowery Ballroom
Canadian Sam Roberts makes heartland roots rock with just a dash of early ’90s indie rock. He’s joined tonight by fellow Canadians Hollerado who make thoughtful

Tobacco, Odonis Odonis @ Brooklyn Bowl
Black Moth Super Rainbow frontman Thomas Fec released the new album Sweatbox Dynasty with his solo project Tobacco earlier this year, which any fans of ultra-weird electronic pop might dig. This is the final of Tobacco’s three Brooklyn Bowl residency shows.

Prince Rama @ NYU Kimmel Center
“Xtreme Now” is not just the name of Prince Rama current album, it’s also an ethos which the group’s Taraka Larson will discuss tonight, followed by a performance by the band. Free.

We Don’t Even Know @ Hi-Fi Bar
Christian Felix and Shonali Bhowmik’s podcast WE Don’t Even Know tapes live tonight with a pretty killer lineup of guests: Eleanor Friedberger and John Roberts (Bob’s Burgers).

The Range, Glass Gang, Sarah Kinlaw, IMAGIST, Kathleen Dycaico @ Elvis Guesthouse
The Range’s great 2016 album Potential is one of the year’s better electronic albums (and has had a lot of crossover with audiences outside of the electronic-music world). Tonight he takes the stage for a show that will benefit Planned Parenthood + Callen Lorde Community Health Center.

Metric, New Myths @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Canadian pop band Metric were last in town for The Meadows music festival, and tonight they’re back for a much smaller show. It’s free, but you need a ticket (and those are no longer available).

Mount Kimbie @ National Sawdust
The great UK electronic duo Mount Kimbie are working on their third album, and they’re promising to play some new stuff tonight. National Sawdust’s unique environment should also be a very cool way to see them.

Ulcerate, Zhrine, Phobocosm @ Saint Vitus
New Zealand death metal maniacs Ulcerate returned earlier this year with the great Shrines of Paralysis. They’re currently on the road with Iceland’s Zhrine, whose 2016 debut album on Season of Mist, Unortheta, is an epic mix of black and death metal.

Puddles Pity Party @ Highline Ballroom
The seven-foot tall, crying-on-the-inside-and-out clown, Puddles, brings his one-of-a-kind Pity Party show to NYC tonight.

Lulu Gainsbourg @ The Cutting Room
The son of Serge Gainsbourg and chanteuse Bambou, Lulu released his second album, Lady Luck, in 2015, which owes a some to the family tradition while forging his own direction.

Cake Shop Comedy @ Cake Shop
If you miss Big Terrific and Hannibal Buress’ Sunday night show at Knit, and are looking for a new free, weekly comedy show that happens in a rock club and sometimes has big name talent stop by unexpectedly, “Cake Shop Comedy” might do the trick.

SWEET w/ Seth Herzog @ The Slipper Room
Seth Herzog hosts this long-running comedy night that always features great guests.
