Having reinvented herself from cool Dum Dum Girls frontwoman to ’80s-influenced pop artist, Kristin Kontrol released her solo debut earlier this year. She puts a bow on 2016 tonight with the charismatic Starchild and effervescent NOIA.
Bon Iver, Fog @ Kings Theatre
Bon Iver are in the home stretch of their 10-show NYC-area run in support of this year’s experimental, heavily electronic 22, A Million. This is the second of two shows at Kings.
Sad13, Emily Reo, Told Slant, Vagabon @ Baby’s All Right
Speedy Ortiz singer Sadie Dupuis released her first solo album as Sad13 earlier this year, which is pro-consent, anti-inequality, and full of catchy choruses. If you’re going tonight, get there early for rising local artist Vagabon.
David Crosby @ Tarrytown Music Hall
David Crosby returend earlier this year with Lighthouse, his most psychedelic and acoustic guitar-oriented album since the late ’60s / early ’70s. Tonight he plays Tarrytown Music Hall, which is just a quick train ride out of the city.
Earthless, Ruby the Hatchet @ Bowery Ballroom
San Diego space rockers Earthless and retro riffers Ruby the Hatchet begin a two-night stand in NYC tonight. Tomorrow they’re at Saint Vitus.
Jucifer, Husbandry, Sick Shit @ Saint Vitus
Nomadic sludge duo Jucifer tour constantly and basically live out of their van for the bulk of each year. (That’s dedication.) Tonight they roll back into NYC.
The Epiphone Revolver Music Awards w/ performances by Megadeth, Anthrax, & more @ Webster Hall
We’re not exactly sure what metal mag Revolver and guitar company Epiphone’s music awards ceremony tonight will be like, but it’s promising live performances from Megadeth, Anthrax, Ace Frehley and more, so it might turn out pretty cool.
