What's going on Tuesday?

Frightened Rabbit

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Frightened Rabbit @ Rough Trade (2 shows)
Frightened Rabbit’s new album is out next week, and while we haven’t heard the whole thing yet, song titles like “I Wish I Was Sober” and “An Otherwise Disappoining Life” make it seem like it’s gonna be the Frightened Rabbit we know and love. They play two shows tonight, a 7 PM and a 9 PM show (the latter with Cut Worms opening). You had to pre-order the new album from the Rough Trade store to get into the early show, and the late show is a regular ticketed show.

The Coathangers, Tijuana Panthers, Patio @ Baby’s All Right
Atlanta garage punks The Coathangers have a new album called Nosebleed Weekend on the way via Suicide Squeeze, and going by the singles we’ve heard so far, it’s gonna be another batch of rippers

Haelos, Kodacrome @ Mercury Lounge
London trio Haelos recently put out their debut album on Matador, which pulls from ’90s trip-hop, The xx, and more. Tonight’s their first of two NYC shows.

Wyclef Jean @ Brooklyn Bowl
The onetime Fugees frontman has returned with his first new music in almost a decade, the new single “My Girl.” Find out what else he’s got in store for 2016 tonight.

Jherek Bischoff, Amanda Palmer @ City Winery
Ahead of this week’s appearances at the David Bowie tribute shows, Amanda Palmer and Jherek Bischoff play this show with a bevy of “special guests” promised.

Faust, Zs @ Market Hotel
Market Hotel’s industrial warehouse vibes seem like a great place to see krautrock legends Faust. This is their second of three area shows.

Danny Fingers and The Thumbs, Valley Lodge @ Pianos
Did you know that Dave Hill’s band Valley Lodge’s song “Go” is the theme song to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver? It’s true, and we bet they’ll play it tonight.

Yak, Gold Class, Bambara @ Saint Vitus
Yak’s chaotic live shows and dark garagey sound have garnered comparisons to The Birthday Party and The Cramps (also: Thee Oh Sees or Fat White Family).

Lee Ranaldo (acoustic), Chuck Johnson, Ancient Ocean @ Trans Pecos
The onetime Sonic Youth guitarist’s new album is in the can. Get a sneak peak tonight.

Savages, Angus Tarnawsky @ Warsaw
Road-tested at last year’s NYC residency, Savages new album Adore Life, is a step forward for the UK band. Live, they’ve never had any problem holding audiences attention, and reviews from their European tour say they’re better than ever.

Intronaut, Scale the Summit, North, Family @ The Marlin Room at Webster Hall
If you’re into technical progressive metal with a bit of polish, Intronaut are one of the better ones doing that kind of thing these days. This tour initially also included The Ocean, but they dropped off.

Advance Base, gobbinjr @ Union Pool
Advance Base is the current concern of Owen Ashworth (who formerly went as Casiotone for the Painfully Alone), who makes sad bedroom pop. His latest album is 2015’s Nephew in the Wild.

Cake Shop Comedy @ Cake Shop
If you miss Big Terrific and Hannibal Buress’ Sunday night show at Knit, and are looking for a new free, weekly comedy show that happens in a rock club and sometimes has big name talent stop by unexpectedly, “Cake Shop Comedy” might do the trick.

We Don’t Even Know feat. Janeane Garofalo, Mark Nadler, Shonali Bhowmik, Christian Felix @ HiFi
“We Don’t Even Know” is a monthly night of music, comedy and chat, tonight featuring Janeane Garofalo and more. Free.
