What’s going on Tuesday?

Acid Mothers Temple
Acid Mothers Temple @ Knitting Factory 2013 (more by Greg Cristman)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Smashing Pumpkins (acoustic), Liz Phair @ Beacon Theatre
Close your eyes and pretend it’s 1993 in Chicago for this alt-rock double bill featuring headliners Smashing Pumpkins in stripped down form, and Liz Phair. Night 2 of 3.

Autolux, Eureka the Butcher @ Bowery Ballroom
Having spent most of last year focusing on the Failure reunion, Greg Edwards is now back to his other band, Autolux. Their new album Pussy’s Dead is as experimental as it is accessible, and it’s good stuff.

Acid Mothers Temple, Mounds, Greg Fox @ Mercury Lounge
Japanese freakout greats Acid Mothers Temple usually make it over to North America once a year in the spring, and here they are for their first of two NYC shows.

Baio @ Garcia’s at Capitol Theatre
While we await a new Vampire Weekend album, Chris Baio is focusing on his solo project that isn’t a million miles away from his main band.

Communion NYC feat. JAKUBI, KLOE, Aidan Knight, Walker Lukens, Sonya Kitchell, Andy Shauf, Little Fevers, & more @ Rockwood Music Hall
It’s Communion NYC’s monthly takeover of Rockwood Music Hall’s three stages. If you’re going tonight, check out Canadian singer-songwriter Andy Shauf.

Eugene Chadbourne @ 55 Walker Street
Having collaborated with everyone from Camper Van Beethoven to The Residents, outsider guitarist Eugene Chadbourne performs two solo sets tonight at this ISSUE Project Room presented show that draws from “Music of my Youth.” He’ll play originals and formative covers.

Sangharsha, Sunrot, Godroot, Devoidov @ Saint Vitus
Vitus hosts a night of metal headlined by local metallic hardcore/sludge band Sangharsha.

Cake Shop Comedy @ Cake Shop
If you miss Big Terrific and Hannibal Buress’ Sunday night show at Knit, and are looking for a new free, weekly comedy show that happens in a rock club and sometimes has big name talent stop by unexpectedly, “Cake Shop Comedy” might do the trick.

For all of tonight’s shows, and tomorrow’s, check out our NYC concert calendar.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
