What's going on Tuesday?
You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…
Gorillaz @ Rough Trade
Damon Albarn’s animated group Gorillaz celebrate the release of their new album Humanz with this impossibly intimate show at Rough Trade. You need to preorder Humanz today starting at 11 AM to get a wristband for the show and with people lining up way before that if you’re reading this now you are probably too late. For those who do get in, expect a bunch of special guests. Good luck!
Diana Ross @ New York City Center
As a staple of Motown’s early ’60s era, the disco era, and plenty of the in-between, the legendary Diana Ross can sing just about anything. This is night two of her five-show run at the New York City Center.
Jazz Cartier, J.I.D., Levi Carter @ Gramercy Theatre
Jazz Cartier is a rapper from Toronto, and yes, he’s gotten some Drake comparisons, but he sounds like he’s increasingly in his own lane. This year he’s releasing the new album Fleurever.
Oso Oso, Prince Daddy and The Hyena, Kississippi (solo), Just Friends, Nervous Dater @ Brooklyn Bazaar
Oso Oso have picked up some buzz this year for The Yunahon Mixtape, an album that’s a bit more in the “lo-fi indie rock” realm than their emo/pop punk-ish early material.
Bleachers @ Webster Hall
Jack Antonoff’s alt-pop band Bleachers are releasing a new album, Gone Now, this year, and playing NYC’s Governors Ball. First, they play this small GovBall-presented show.
Dowsing, Field Mouse, The Exquisites, Cutters @ Silent Barn
Asian Man labelmates Dowsing and The Exquisites are on tour together now, and this show has them teaming up with the very solid indie rock band Field Mouse.
Preservation Hall Jazz Band @ Highline Ballroom
New Orlean’s lauded Preservation Hal Jazz Band bring the sounds and spirit of their hometown to NYC tonight.
L.A. Witch, Las Rosas, Stuyedeyed @ Knitting Factory Brooklyn
With a name that seems almost like an intentional troll, LA Witch sound pretty much like you’d expect (gothy garage) and are pretty good.
Sunwatchers, Eugene Chadbourne, Maxx Katz @ Union Pool
Sunwatchers wrap up their Union Pool residency tonight with cult artist (and avant garde guitar man) Eugene Chadbourne.
