What's going on Tuesday?

Sparks (with FFS) @ Terminal 5, 2015 (more by PSquared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Sparks, Mister Goodnite @ Le Poisson Rouge
For over 40 years Ron and Russell Mael have been making tongue-in-cheek art pop and there is still nobody else quite like Sparks. They’ve just released terrific new album Hippopotamus (their 23rd LP) and BrooklynVegan is psyched to be presenting their two NYC shows, this being the first (tickets are still available; Wednesday is sold out).

Future Islands, Jenny Besetzt @ Brooklyn Steel
Future Islands kick off their three-night, sold out run at Brooklyn Steel tonight.

SZA @ pop-up show (location TBA)
After a handful of EPs, mixtapes and notable guest appearances, SZA finally released her debut album, Ctrl, this year, and it’s easily the most powerful thing she’s done yet. Her tour includes two proper NYC shows in December, but first she’s in the area for a pop-up show tonight.

The Black Dahlia Murder, Suffocation, Decrepit Birth, Necrot, Wormwitch @ Highline Ballroom
Having recently wrapped up a tour playing 2007’s Nocturnal in full for its 10th anniversary, melodic death metal staples The Black Dahlia Murder released their new album Nightbringers last week and they’re now on tour in support of that one. Some great openers tonight too.

Springsteen on Broadway
It’s the hottest ticket on Broadway: Bruce Springsteen playing solo at the intimate Walter Kerr Theatre, performing some of his biggest hits and telling stories about them. His show runs through February.

Sam Amidon, Sam Gendel @ Mercury Lounge
This year folk musician Sam Amidon released Following Mountain, his most ambitious, jazzy album yet, featuring appearances from legendary jazz percussionist Milford Graves, saxophonist Sam Gendel, multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily (who Sam has long collaborated with including in Doveman), and others. Gendel opens the night with his own set.
