What's going on Tuesday?

Yo La Tengo at Bowery Ballroom
Yo La Tengo Hanukkah Night 5 (more by P Squared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Yo La Tengo @ Bowery Ballroom
What a treat the return of Yo La Tengo’s Hanukkah shows, have been, featuring unique, guest-filled sets full of great music and good cheer. We’ve had guests like Jeff Tweedy, Superchunk and Nick Lowe…what’s in store for the final night?

LCD Soundsystem @ Brooklyn Steel
Finishing up their busy year, James Murphy and crew play their seventh show of their December 10-show run at Brooklyn Steel. Hopefully JM is over the flu fully — will tonight be the night for them to try out “How Do You Sleep?” for the first time?

Sammi Lanzetta, The Rizzos, Sic Tic @ Knitting Factory
Richmond, VA indie rocker Sammi Lanzetta caught our ear this year with her debut EP, For Avery, which came out on 6131 Records (former home of Julien Baker, Touche Amore, and Joyce Manor) and showcases her conversational singing style and instantly quotable lyrics. She played a house show in Brooklyn earlier this year, and tonight she returns to play a proper venue.

Milk Dick, Smokescreens, Business of Dreams, Ryne Ziemba @ Muchmore’s
This bill features two Los Angeles bands, both of which features Corey from Terry Malts. Smokescreens are buzzsaw indiepop while Business of Dreams is Corey in solo synthpop mode.

Springsteen on Broadway
The Boss is currently in the midst of his completely sold-out “Springsteen on Broadway” run at the Walter Kerr Theatre, which has now been extended through June! At these shows, Bruce plans to give fans shows “that are as personal and as intimate as possible.”

Los Lobos @ City Winery
Los Angles rock vets Los Lobos wrap up their annual City Winery residency tonight.

Nellie McKay @ City Vineyard
The very charming Nellie McKay, who will no doubt play a few holiday tunes, performs tonight as part of City Vineyard’s “Voices on the Hudson” series where only 100 seats are sold.

Justin Vivian Bond: Manger Danger! Jesus as a Weapon and a Tool @ Joe’s Pub
Right after Murray, Justin Vivian Bond’s unique Christmas show continues its run at Joe’s Pub. What is this show all about? We’ll let Justin do the talking: “I think I’m in LOVE with JESUS but it’s difficult because a lot of HIS FOLLOWERS totally HATE ME. (I know, the irony is not lost on me either) Anyway, I’m confused because I’m fully committed to bringing down the patriarchy but I’M TOTALLY CRUSHED OUT ON THE SON OF GOD! Please forgive me for co-opting your holiday to work it out publicly in my new show ‘Manger Danger! Jesus as a Weapon and a Tool.’”
