This is Panache Booking and Jonathan Toubin’s annual Valentine’s Day benefit for Planned Parenthood, with a whole bunch of great acts playing short sets, plus raffles, and more…all for a great cause.
Future Islands, Zack Mexico @ Bowery Ballroom
Future Islands love NYC and will spend V-Day with lucky New Yorkers who managed to score tickets to this intimate show, where hopefully they’ll play a bunch of songs from their upcoming LP, The Far Field.
Night Train w/ Wyatt Cenac @ Littlefield (2 shows)
Wyatt Cenac turned his weekly Littlefield comedy show into a series for all-comedy streaming site Seeso, and they’re taping Season 2 this week. Tonight they’re taping two shows: 8 PM with D.C. Benny, Shane Torres, Dina Hashem, Chanel Ali, and more; and 10 PM with Brooks Wheelan, Claudia Cogan, Alzo Slade, Violet Gray and more. Both are sold out, but you can take your chances in the standy line.
Havok, Exmortus, Extinction A.D.
Neo-thrashers Havok are releasing their next album Conformicide this March, and they’re on the road now ahead of its release. Maybe we’ll hear some new songs tonight.
79.5, The Shacks, Nymph, DJ Danny Akalepse @ Union Pool
LPR is presenting a Valentine’s Day show at Union Pool with two bands on retro-soul label Big Crown, 79.5 and The Shacks. Opener Nymph is the project of 79.5 member Matty McDermott.
Unloveable: A Smiths & Morrissey Valentine’s Day @ The Bell House
Are you miserable when two lovers entwined pass you by? We know a place where you can go and stand on your own and embrace your glumness: this Morrissey-themed Valentine’s Day party with Smiths/Moz tribute act The Sons & Heirs and host Rob Sheffield.
