What's going on Wednesday?

Sharon Jones
Sharon Jones at MSG in February (more by Greg Cristman)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings @ Prospect Park Bandshell
We can’t think of a better way to kick of the 2016 BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! festival than the great Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. It’s free, with doors at 6:30 PM and the show at 8.

Beyonce @ Citi Field
Beyonce returned this year with arguably her best album yet, Lemonade, an album that touches on downtempo R&B, blues, psychedelic soul and more, and has some of her most charged lyrics yet. Tonight’s her second of two Citi Field shows this week.

Alex G, Ronald Paris @ Baby’s All Right
This show features Ronald Paris of chill popsters Porches, and “A Very Speci(AL G)uest” which sounds an awful lot like recent Porches tourmate Alex G. (Update: it is Alex G.)

O’Death, Wild Yaks, Air Waves @ Brooklyn Bowl
O’Death’s latest album is 2014’s Out of Hands We Go, an album of dark and super raw folk that fits their name well.

Benjamin Clementine @ Irving Plaza
UK singer Benjamin Clementine won the Mercury Prize last year for his album At Least for Now that earned him a few “male Nina Simone” comparisons.

Cosmicide, ohnomoon @ C’Mon Everybody
Miss mid-’00s band Secret Machines? Check out Brandon Curtis’ new group Cosmicide who don’t stray too far from his old band’s widescreen, post-punky rock. Tonight’s the first of their June residency shows.

Vinnie Caruana, Brandon Reilly @ Saint Vitus Bar
The Movielife/I Am the Avalanche/Peace’d Out frontman Vinnie Caruana recently released his debut solo album, which is on the lighter side compared to his other bands but certainly not a singer/songwriter-y kind of thing. He’s touring with a full band, including Brandon Reilly (The Movielife, Nightmare of You), Brett Romnes (I Am the Avalanche) and Steve Choi (RX Bandits, The Sound of Animals Fighting, Peace’d Out). Brandon Reilly also opens with a solo set that will include Nightmare of You songs and his new solo single.

Anti-Nowhere League, Agitator, Breaking Sounds @ The Grand Victory
British punk vets Anti-Nowhere League have been going strong since the early ’80s. Tonight they play a Brooklyn show ahead of this weekend’s Punk Rock Bowling festival in Asbury Park.

Dixie Chicks @ PNC Bank Arts Center
Country superstars and unlikely free speech advocates Dixie Chicks bring their MMXVI World Tour to PNC tonight.

Sweet Crude @ Rockwood Music Hall Stage 2
New Orleans’ Sweet Crude is a seven-piece band that includes Alexis Marceaux and Sam Craft (who also play together as Alexis & the Samurai), Sam’s brother Jack, and more; and notably they have a strict “no guitars allowed” rule. Also notably, they sing in a mix of English and Cajun French, a dying language in their home state of Louisiana. Tonight’s their first of two NYC shows this week.

Homeshake, Michael Rault, Yoke Lore, Palmas, Pavo Pavo, Frances Cone, Glassio, Arthur Moon @ The Well
The 2016 Northside Festival kicks off tomorrow but you can see a whole bunch bands playing this week tonight, for free, including Canadian band Homeshake and garage rocker Michael Rault. You do need to RSVP.

Living Colour (acoustic) @ City Winery
Known for their pidgeonhole-busting brand of blistering hard rock, Living Colour take it down a notch tonight at this acoustic show.

Hey Manhattan! It’s The Prefab Sprout Boutique Show! @ HiFi
Yesterday was Prefab Sprout main man Paddy McAloon’s birthday, and tonight Hi_Fi will celebrate with this tribute featuring Sondre Lerche, Skylar Spence, Franklin Bruno, Jen Goma, and loads of “bah bah bah” choruses. It’s free but you can gaurantee a spot by donating to the performers.

Jerry Seinfeld @ Beacon Theater
What’s the deal with these shows? It’s Seinfeld’s monthly residency, that’s what. He’s been getting some cool people to open, too.

For all of tonight’s shows, and tomorrow’s, check out our NYC concert calendar.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
